Attention TomP.

"My remote trans filter has a tapped hole just waiting for a gauge (it's got a pipe plug in it now)!"

What kind of remote filter do you have, do you have a pt#? Im interested in getting a setup with a temp guage fitting and an extra filter would be a plus
I think this Modine cooler is doing too good of a job, the lines barely get warm.

Thanks!!

Yeah, it's the one that Summit makes. I think it ran me $20. The reason I bought it, and not the B&M one, was because the Summit one came with hose. I've replaced that original hose with some braided "fake stainless steel" hose. The filter it uses (Fram PH-1) is the same as the AC/Delco PF2 filter, so I've since switched to the PF2.

That filter was a bitch to mount!!! I couldn't find anywhere to put it that would make sense for changing it. Finally, I found my spot, and I think it's only a "v6" spot. I made a bracket (*** I hate doing that!) to mount the filter right on my passenger side lower main frame rail, between the radiator and the engine. I had to make the bracket so I could raise the filter up an inch or so- otherwise, the filter would not have cleared my idler arm (on the passenger side). I almost made the bracket too short, and that would've put the top of the filter 1/8" off the top of the idler arm, which would've meant I couldn't take the filter off. Luckily I noticed it, and changed my bracket template in time.

If you can't find the part # off Summit, let me know, I'll see if I can dig up the original receipt.

I think I'll need a 90 degree adapter, though. The hole for the temp gauge is right between the two holes for the trans lines, and for a sensor to fit between the two hoses, it'd have to be as thin as a pencil.

Thank you sir :hail:

Im thinking of hitting up the pick and pull yard and getting a remote oil filter setup from a jap car for more space and just twixing that to fit my car then getting an adaptor so I can fit a regular old GM water temp sensor in there and using a eletric water temp guage. The hardest part I can see is finding a fitting to adapt the temp sender from 1/2 to 1/4 and finding a good place to mount it.

Thanks again!
