ur not gonna beat much with the carbed 2.8.. ur lookin at about 100-110hp stock.. the new ricers are at about 130-150hp stock..

k&n - i dont see it making that big of a diff on a carbed engine.. i could be wrong tho
cai - carbed.. dual snorkel intake is ur best bet there
91-92 ground effects - oh hell ya.. i want to get those too.. but i want to find a way to keep the 82-84 (83 in my case) nose
85+ z taillights - again oh hell ya.. the grid style taillights rock..

engine swap - sbc or 3.8 v6.. it would cost u the same either way.. there both 90*.. ur 2.8 is a 60*.. if u want that much power from a "stock" engine, ur better off buying a v8 f-body.. if u really love ur current f-body and want a faster car, swap in a 3.4.. ked85 is the man when it comes to the 3.4 swap "boogie".. talk to him for more info on that..

Race your way to a wrecking yard that has 3.4 for sale. Go buy one.
Don't waste your gas on a HONDA
Why insult yourself.
Jeeze!
Race a old Chevelle or old Mustang.
Give yourself some class
Or slip ina V-8 and have more fun.
You've got a great drive train for that simple swap. Carb'd V-6. You're an easy swap!!

The 3.8 won't fit between the framerails of the thirdgen f-body. When GM put the 3.8 in the 1989 TurboTA, they used different heads.

why would I want the 3.4 V6 over the 5.0 V8 TPI?
doesn't the v8 go in easier and for about the same price?
and How much is this gonna cost me to have it done?

I could probably do the work myself, but I really don't have the time or the effort level needed for it....

i found the perfect mod to win every time:

what if I just put sugar in the (hondas) gas tanks
heh, then i'll win for sure!

lol

Actually I beat V8's wiith My 3.1. I just know what battles to pick. the 3.4 would be a direct replacement, the V8 change motor mounts, change this change that ect...

And put mothballs in the gas tanks.. better. Eats everything rubber it comes into contact with.. then burns up the engine.... Or even better if oyu can get a mini ping pong ball... thats hell...

you must mean some SUVs....?

how much is the engine swap gonna cost me?
is it that much cheaper to put a 3.4 in?
if I decide to go with the 3.4 v6 can I keep my V6 T5?

Actually I beat 305 3rd gen TBI's all the time. I have beaten 2-3 rustangs with V8's... several trucks actually... not to many spunky SUV's around here, at least save my girlfreinds Honda(which I beat to death)....LOL

and which engine swap you askin about? V8 motor plus adapting supplies. meaning trans, motor mounts, wiring harness, radiator, and other things...
3.4 engine. thats it. Unless you do upgrades as well. Yes you can keep your T5 with the 3.4. ITS THE SAME SIZED BLOCK.

How much power does the 3.4L put out?
and if I put a k&n filter, and set up a cold air induction system, approximatlely, how much power would that add?
and this would be enough to tear up any stock Honda?
If I just wanted the job done (instead of me trying at it for monthes, little by little) so that I am not without my car for very long, what would a fair price be (@ a mechanic)?

thanks

$500 would be about right.
I would have lost at $500 tho.
It's a detailed swap.
How's your tranny?
IF it's borderline, you're gonna need a new one!
Every swapper has gone thru theirs.
Even the Lone stick shift person

will that engine work with fuel injected engines? it says that it is for carb only, and it says something like, it doesnt have tranyn mount or something, if so, that really sucks, i wanted to put it in my 91 3.1L V6

$500 for 3.4L or labor?

like I said earlier it's a manual setup, so I really don't have mutch idea of what condition it is in....but it shifts fine with no problem, so I figure I'll have the 3.4L put in, I'll set up cold air induction, the K&N airfilter, already have the flowmaster 80 installed, and when the "tranny" burns out then I guess I will replace it.....does anyone know of a good (non-factory) manual tranny for cheap?

$2k (plus shipping!!) for the gm performance 3.4 + $500 for a shop to install it.. doesnt sound like to good deal to me.. find a 93-95 f-body in a junkyard and pull that engine.. i donno how the boneyard scene is around there, u will probably have to call around till u find one.. it would be ALOT cheaper this way.. just my 2 cents..

I did my 3.4 swap for about $800+ total, including engine & gaskets.
I sold all the left over stuff I could.
I have to do another swap.
I hope to keep my costs that low, too.
I doubt it, as I am including a tranny.
My Blazer needs an engine and good running cheap 2.8/3.1 (that you know history of) don't exist.

One of the people I know has a 98 VTEC Honda Civic EX 5speed...stock, and another has a 2001 Honda Accord EX Automatic 4cyl...stock. Say I was to race them, would I even have a chance of winning? I love my Camaro, but honestly the 2.8L V6 isn't the fastest around, what can I do so that my camaro puts those Hondas in there place (my rear view mirror, heh!)?

My Future Mods include:

K&N Air Filter
Cold Air Induction (through the 82-84 Sport Coupe Front Scoops?)
91-92 RS Style Ground FX
85+ Z28 Tailights
New Black Paint w/1992 Heritage style Red Stripes
Remote Keyless Entry & Alarm
and an Engine Swap.......

I would like to Swap my engine this summer for a 305 TPI V8, but am not entirely sure it's worth it.....what about the 3.8L V6 from the new 4th Gens (would never buy one, but they have nice motors! they look too much like those damned Chrysler Sebrings!)

but in the meantime I need some any quick and easy performance enhancers.....thanks
Lets put it this way check out the stuff in my sig I have a fuel injected 2.8 with a few cheap mods and I SMOKED and carbed 84 2.8... it was not even close.

um, you really don't need to do any mods to get a F/I 2.8/3.1 to smoke a carb'ed 2.8.

If you install a new timing chain & hop up ignition and increase air flow, you'd be surprised what can happen to a 2.8!
And increase exhaust flow, too.
All that does swap over to a 3.4
And that's exactly what I have done to my S-10 Blazer.
I've rebuilt the S-10 Blazer original (federal version) carb, ignition & distributor, I'm gonna seek out headers on ebay (LEGAL FOR MY TRUCK!!!!!), too. THEN I'LL REALY HATE SPARK PLUG CHANGES!
I also have to add an electric fuel pump. The 3.4 doesn't have a place for mechanical fuel pumps.
I'm so upset. I hate the mechanical fuel pump on my Blazer. Always leaked.

I actually already have a pump, so that wasn't a true problem.
Yep, that is the plan, tho.
