What is the widest rim you can put.....

What is the widest rim you can put.....
on the front of a 91 Z28, i have heard that 17x9 is the widest without rubbing is this true, and how about the back ??? i just ask because i have heard conflicting reports ?

I have also heard the front specs, i wonder about the rears, does anybody know how far that might stick out of the wells ?????? Im going to order mine tomorrow, so any other info would be greatly appreciated.

I have 17x9's with 275/40's and 2.25" spacers up front. I don't have any rubbing but with the wheels turned, my tires come within less than 1/2" of hitting the fender. You might be able to get away with 17x9.5's but probably no wider than that I would say.

Thanks, well honestly I didn't notice much of a difference in handling. Although the tires that came on my rims are el cheapo Generals so I really wasn't expecting much. They were practically brand new so I couldn't justify spending the money to replace them at the time. I think I may upgrade next spring though.

Yes, you can fit a 17x11" rim on the back of a 3rd gen.
You need 6" of backspacing.
They will stick out past the wheel well a little.
This tire rim combo helps in everyway imaginable.
Traction, handling and looks but it will hurt your wallet some but it's well worth it.
