C6 wheels on my Camaro

Hey guys,

I currently have a set of 17x8.5 C6 Corvette rims on my 1991 Camaro RS and they look very good but I think that theyre not wide enough. There are people interested in my current rims so I thought I would upgrade. The two wheel packages are as follows:

18x8.5 inch 18x9.5 inch, 5x4.75 with 245/40/18 and 275/40/18 tires

or

18x8.5 inch 18x10.5 inch, 5x4.75 with 245/40/18 and 275/40/18 tires

I know that both sets of tires are the same and the rear wheels differ by an inch. This is the first thing thats worrying me. Will the 275 tire be wide enough for a 10.5 inch rim? I know that the section width on this tire should be 10.83 inches so technically it should fit the rim; but will it look good?

The second and most important question is will a 10.5 inch wide rim fit in the rear? I am lowered 1.6 inches all around and I have heard people say that I will rub. I have an adjustable panhard bar so the rear axle would be centred and I wouldnt mind doing the BFH mod to my wheel wells. Does anyone here have 10.5 inch wide wheels installed in the rear? I would love to hear opinions and see pics before I make my final decision. I really appreciate it.

Pic of my car so you see what this is going on:

you will be doing some mods to the inner well for sure, the small area by the LCA needs to be massaged as well.you may get away with a 3" adapter/spacer if you have your original rearend.
on my 4th gen i massaged a bunch and i run a 3/8 spacer my wheels are original c6 wheels 19x10.5 out back.i am diggin your car looks sweet.

Thank you for the compliment.

I would prefer to not move the wheels out any further than they are now. If I have to cut some of my wheel well out thats cool and if I have to massage it with a hammer Im cool with that as well. Im already running 2 inch adapters and I think anything more than that would be just crazy. Will it clear all of my suspension? Will being lowered this much have a big effect? Am I better off going with the 9.5 inch wheels? I would prefer to have the 10.5s...

Im running 17x9.5" c6 wheels and 275 tires on all four corners. I used 2.25" spacers and they fit great and only rub alittle at full lock. But My car is stock height so i dont know if u would have problems.

Your car looks really good. Thanks for the pics. You wouldnt have a pic from behind but taken from a lower angle? That would help a lot.

PS. Your rear wheels are on backwards. I dont know if you knew this. Maybe you've fixed it already

What do u mean by my wheels are on backwards? Do u mean the tires?
I bought the tires and rims together and the tires were installed and balanced.

Good eye

You are right i just took a look at my car and two of the four are wrong. I was in too much of a rush and threw the rims on without looking. No big deal i just gotta pull the two that are wrong and switch them. Thanks for the input, first time ive had directional tires.

No problem. I wouldnt want you to lose tire performance
