Re: thinking about some prostars or summit stars

Just for reference, the summit/jegs brand wheels are cast(not forged) and are therefore considerably heavier than welds. They are also a conical set lug nut, thus less thread engaugment and less stud support.

They're a fine wheel for a typical street cruiser, but I would not use them in a typical race car.

How much are you trying to get for your current wheels? I really like them.

Ive been looking for the Weld XP's for ever but being they were discontinued they are hard to find.

Bullydawg,

Im getting Screamin86 rims/tires. once I get some Welds/etc I will be getting rid of them again. Prob. not till after the 1st of the year once I get the car shipped to FL.

Re: thinking about some prostars or summit stars

When I bought mine the Summit brand only had the one 5 spoke design. They now have the fast five wheels and warrior R/T wheels that have skinnier spokes. A 15x8 needs a 4.75" BS to be exactly where stock wheels are. Either a 4.5" or 5.5" work on an 8" wheel. The 4.5" puts the tire about flush with the fender lip, and the 5.5" tucks them in an inch from there. You can also get a set of 15x10 6.5" BS to give the option for wider tires, like a set of 325/50/15's.

Re: thinking about some prostars or summit stars

I use 15x8 weld stars on the rear with 5.5 bs on mine with 275x60-15 radials and they fit great.

Badass355ciz28,

Couple of questions. Are those really 4.5 backspacing? How much did you lower your car, and what size tires are you running at all 4 corners?

Paul

yes they are 4.5" back spacing on all 4 wheels. the car was lowered 1.75 inches(those springs are for sale) and for tires i run 245-45-17 front and 275-40-17 in the back............ the rears(tires) are a lil wider than the fronts but same diameter
