ok so the last couple of days iv been removing my wheels on my 87 iroc and polishing them when off and i got driver side f+r finished and then i got the front passenger side done but my problem is i cant get my rear passanger side wheel to come off. it will just move a bit left to right but wont budge and iv tried soaking the lug nuts and where they screw on with lube to see if it was rust but i dont think so. does anyone know why this is happening? i didnt have a problem with the rest of the wheels exept this 1 so any help will be appreciated. thx guys
the car was sittng outside for 5yrs but when i got it fixed im sure they removed the wheel. and i have in all 4 corners factory disk brakes.

ok if the lug nuts won't come off.... Get yourself a BFP "big ....... Pipe" and give her a wrench they will come off.... Most likely they were over torqued on. If you have the lugs off and the wheel won't move its not a big deal.. lay under neath and start smakin the back of the rim with a hammer. Be careful not to overly dent any area of the rim.... It will slide off its just stuck.. I had this happen with my g/f century all 4 wheels i had to beat off because sams club completely over torqued all the lugs on... Goodluck!

Re: wheel wont come off!

DO NOT LAY UNDERNEATH THE CAR!!! If you are underneath the car when hitting or kicking the tire, the car Could slide or shift off the stands causing the car to FALL on you!!!

Always stand beside it, and KICK the top end of the tire, that way If the car falls you are NOT under it!. Or lay down beside it, in front, or from behind, But NOT Underneath it, and using a Long pipe or a thick stick, Wack the lower backside of the tire. These two methods have Always worked for me on any car I've worked on, and is much more safer!

Re: wheel wont come off!

The movement you are feeling is rotor moving. The aluminum wheel has bonded to it self to the surface of the steel rotor. Iv had this happen with many cars the way i go about getting the rim off is a leaving all 5 lugs lose but still on the hubs/studs a 2x4 and a bottle jack layed on its side (if the passengers is stuck) i put the bottle jack on the driver side tire with a board behind it so it doesn't push into the tire and then i prop the 2x4 on the passenger side on the inside of the rim then i just jack and it forces the rim off its easy and i find this the best way of doing it where most will beat the tire and rim to death with a hammer

Re: wheel wont come off!

I have dealt with MANY stuck tires over the years and this method has never failed to remove a stuck wheel for me. (sometimes your just limited to using what you can find,.... I learned this trick over 20 years ago and still use it today. )

Raise the stuck tire into the air. Get a full sized spare, or some random Wheel & tire. (not the little hard rubber ones !) Stand to the side of the stuck tire. Hurl the spare tire like a discus (sp?) horizontally into the stuck tire at the bottom edge of the suck tire. The force of the heavy spare tire hitting the stuck tire will help it to free the stuck one from the axle/spindle.

If the tire is still stuck after the first attempt than spin the tire 180 and do it again.... then spin again and throw again. It make take a couple attempts, but it will work - Without smashing on the wheel with a hammer even once !

Re: wheel wont come off!

Last stuck tire, I kept loose lugs on, sat on my as* in front of the wheel and kicked the tire with BOTH feet. I was on the side of a busy road with NO tools other than the tire changing equipment. I kicked the sh*t out of that tire forever, until I decided to get on my as* and kick with BOTH feet! Kinda like a seated 'drop kick', for lack of a better term. Took a couple heavy blows around the perimeter of the wheel, but it released quickly. Throwing a spare tire at it has to work, as well as jacking the tire from the back of the opposing wheel. Both good ideas if you have access to the tools.
