265/40-17? 255/45-17?

Is anyone running 265/40-17's on the front of their car? Anyone have pictures?

I have a set of vette 17x9's with 265/40-17's on them that I was thinking about running on the front of my TA, but have been wondering if at a little under 25.5" tall they might look too short (with the snow and no room in the garage I can't just test fit them easily). Since I need to replace 2 tires on my 4th gen and don't care as much about them being perfect, now would be the time to do something about it, i'm considering swapping them onto the 4th gen rims and then getting some 255/45 or 245/45's instead, I'm sure that the 245/45's will fit fine, but I'm afraid that they might not look any better than the 265/40's, and that the 255's might rub. I'm sure that 275/40's will work but I don't want to run that wide a tire on the front. FWIW, I have 295/35-18's on the back.

Re: 265/40-17? 255/45-17?

You got a 4" sidewall in the back just about, the 265's will have about .1 inch more sidewall which is hardly noticeable

255/45 is 4.5" tall. you may start to notice a difference there.

I'd say the 265's would be a better match for the fronts.

I got 255/40/18's on my front and they fit just fine with no rub unless its at full lock on uneven ground. My car is pretty low up front so thats why it may bump the inner fender well at full lock.

huh... I honestly never thought of it that way.

I guess that they're the same sizes that the C5 Z06's used also...

yeah, i mismatched my wheels/tires and it looks funny. 295/30/19's rear, 255/40/18 front. 4" sidewall front, and 3.5" rear and its very noticeable. I need a 295/35 or a smaller front but I dont want to sacrifice diameter

I think the 245/45's are to narrow for the 9" wheel. I have seen them on and they do not look good, the tread looks narrower than the rim. I'd go with a 255/45 at the minimum.

Re: 265/40-17? 255/45-17?

yea, they're Z06 wheels, so the fronts are 9.5" wide... that pretty much means that if I want a taller tire I'm going to have to go with a 275 or 285/40, and Orr... like I said, I've never thought about it before but that would pretty much mean I'd have to go with a 305/35 on the back or bigger, which is getting a bit big for a 10.5" wheel...

I think that I'm going to stay with what I have and see if I can use ride height + wheel spacer width to get the 25.3" tall tires to look right in the wheel well.

Getting big but still doable on a 10.5 rim.

I got a 295 on a 10 and wanted to do the 305 on a 10. Corvette guys have done it
