Fixing my rear backspacing

OK, decided to fix the rear backspacing on my car. Been looking at these wheels in a 15in. by 8 in. rear with a 5.5 backspacing to compliment a 295/50r15 tire. They offer a 15in. by 7in. for the front but with a 4.0 backspacing.. What do you think?

I need to fix this= Thats a 295/50r15 on a 3.75 BS rear on a 15 by 8in. wheel

Re: Fixing my rear backspacing

those "prostar" look-a-likes are nice looking but even heavier than a stock aluminum wheel. i highly recommend the Weld prostars. with a 8" wheel 4" backspace looks good. i guess you have a 3rd gen rear? also that 295 50 15 will look better on a 10" wide rim.

Re: Fixing my rear backspacing

Yes that's a 3rd gen rear. When I first started fixing up this car I really had no idea about back spacing so just went with a wheel I liked. Turned out to only be offered in a 3.75 bs for a 15 by 8 in wheel. So Ive decided to get it fixed. I did some measuring with a tape and looks as if I am going to need the extra 1.75 that a 5.5 bs offers to get that 295/50r15 tire to fit.So I its going to be 15x8 ,5.5bs with 295/50r15s

Re: Fixing my rear backspacing

i would go 15x10 with 5.5" bs. here is a pic of mine but its a 4th gen rear. 15x10 with 7.5" bs. could have tucked it in more with 8.5" bs and some hammering but still looks good.

Re: Fixing my rear backspacing

I decided to go with a 15 by 8in. rear wheel . Dose any one else have photos of a 15 by 8in. wheel with a 5.5 bs. and maybe a 295/50r15 tire would be nice?

Re: Fixing my rear backspacing

No the Weld Prostars are going to have to wait until after moneys not so tight. I am going to put some 255/60r15 on the rear when the 295/50r15 need replacing. That will bring in the rears at least 1in.each side, then I'm thinking 4.5 bs on a 8in. wheel in order to get the full 1.75 needed to bring them in with the 255/60r15 tire. Its just that Ive been looking at some of the other cars here and a slightly thinner tire looks pretty good . Anyway a 255/60r15s not all that thin.

Re: Fixing my rear backspacing

Whe I had 9" rears, I had 5" bs with plenty of room inside & they were in from the fender lip by about 1/2" - 3/4".

Going to 11" with 7" bs, I had to a "little" bit of cutting & hammer work, but it was WELL worth the extra work.

Don't go down to a "weenie" 255 in the rear. You'll regret it!
