Will a 215/60/16 on iroc wheel look dumb?
I have an almost free pair of michelin 215/60/16s I am thinking of putting on my FRONT IROC wheels since my current 245s are bald. I currently have BFG 295/50/16s in the back right now.Would this look dumb?

It wont look that bad. I have 215's up front becuase I also got mine for free. I can say that I dont like the way they look, but its not extremely bad. Next time your driving around and you see a taurus, look at the tires. Thats the size they use.

I'm mostly worried that that skinny of a tire would look funny mounted on an 8" wheel. Like buldge at the bottom and get narrow at the top.

Re: Will a 215/60/16 on iroc wheel look dumb?
If you can get the 215 to air up on the 8" rim it won't be very good for the tire it won't wear even, and will bead chafe because it's stretched too far...

Dang. Thanks man, I guess I'll need to find something else. Any idea what the most common tire size for these? I need to buy used or cheap new ones temporarily. My 245/50/16s are trashed.

Re: Will a 215/60/16 on iroc wheel look dumb?
I run 245s up front just because I like the look of the wide tires and the hey help me have better traction and keep my car in contact with the road. I use 255s in the back because like I said I like the look of the wide tires but anything over 275 is ridiculous and they allow me to still do decent burnouts. When I first saw this I thought if you were asking if you should put 215s on the back which would not only look wierd but every time you stomp the gas you would leave behind about a half tires worth of tread. They put 215s on the back of V6 04 mustangs because anything more and they would not be able to spin the tires I know because my mom has them.

Haha, nah I have 295/50/16s on the back now. Just need to find a pair of good cheap tires to mount on the front for the time being. I had an allignment issue that ate them up.
Here's what the car looks like now

I just don't want it to look goofy. What about a 225/60 up front?

Here is what they look like. They went on easy. I didnt have to stretch them or fight with them to get them to bead so there is no safety issue with them. They basically sit even with the rim and dont bulge out or in.

the 245's are the norm, or lay your fingers on some 235/55's, or 255/50's even going down to a 225/50 is going to be a bit of a stretch on 8" rims..

225/55 is what I had up front when I got them for free, the side wall will be the same width as your rim and look flat, doesn't look bad at all

Re: Will a 215/60/16 on iroc wheel look dumb?
Dont go any higher than 245 on the front because the 255s start to rub the well everytime you turn. I know becuase when I bought my IROC the front and rear was 255 and as I drove home from the dealership all I could hear were the tires rubbing. So now that I replaced them with 245s I got an extra set of tires for the rear! Can anyone say burnout.

The 60s series of those 215s are why they fit. The tall sidewall allows the tires to "reach" the beads & seat good. But they are almost 1/2" taller, so watch for tire rub, especially on a lowered car or bumps/dips in the road & especially when turning.

I will get them mounted tomorrow and post a pic. I was actually starting to like the stagared look of the 295/50 rear and 245/50 front. Oh well, I'm only out $35 if I don't like these so I might as well try them.

Re: Will a 215/60/16 on iroc wheel look dumb?
Stephen is right that its the taller sidewall that allows them to fit. A 215/50 would not fit I dont think. I had the front of my car a little lower than stock, with no rubbing.
As far as 255's rubbing, you must have had either a tall sidewall, or the wrong back spacing as Stephen said. My brother has 275/50/15's up front and they dont rub.

Well they're on, and I don't really think I like the way it looks. Something about the 60 sidewall makes it look goofy I think. I might put stock ones back on it. Here's pics.
