I am using stock size now on GTA wheels how wide can i go with 26''tall tire???

Been there, done that tire. Not a bad street tire at all. Just don't expect BIG traction with its compound or high cornering ability with its "tall" sidewalls.
And despite its taller than stock sized tire, the speedo won't be so far off that it'll bother you.

I had no rubbing issues, not even on my lowered 92 RS. Had them put on at Super Shops (when they still existed) & drove home. No mods at all, to get them on. This was back in 95 or 96.

None. The stock wheels are sitting in a little over a full inch, so the extra tire width certainly doesn't go out that far.
