Re: 17" snowflakes are on, for good o-yea

hmmm... those actually look good....i never like aftermarket rims for a gta because to me it just takes away from the "GTAs" gold status.... ive always wanted gta rims in 17 or 18 inch size but no one makes them.. these look close enough and i can paint them gold to mimick the gta rims...

Those look really good!

1. Those bolt on without spacers, right? Because they are for the late 70's T/A backspacing/offset?

2. Are those the "gold" colored ones? (as opposed to black or silver)? Some of the rims look different in different pics.

Thanks.

SLP no. 82555 is a set of 20 nuts & caps. That's what I used on some ZQ8's. (below)

GM no. 10227993 cap might work; research it first.

Looks good man! I like the sleek look it has from front to back. Im getting the black glass torque thrust rims on mine, but im having air shocks put on the back so i can raise it a bit. And i know how you guys are about raising the height of thirdgens:P

+1, i have a 91 bird and its ALWAYS harder to find those certain photos of 91-92 birds with that spoiler or those wheels or w/e your looking for, i consider my "91-92 Bird wheels/spoilers/colors" folder of pics on my computer a folder of gold because of the hours spent finding all the HTF pics.

Well, if I ever get a black GTA I know what wheels to put on! You need to take a super nice pic, I need a new wallpaper.

the wheels are $749.00 a set at year one plus $120.00 shipping. this does not include center caps or lug nuts.

Re: 17" snowflakes are on, for good o-yea: UPDATE LOWERED

I think this is a pretty damn good deal for Firebirds. It is a direct bolt-on...so no spacer adaptors (assuming you order it for a late '70s Firebird, and not the 93-02 Firebirds). Plus, these rims will fit a 275/40/17, which you can have up front (assuming slight inner fender plastic modification) and in back.

As I look around at rim/tire packages, the 18 inch and up tire sizes are noticably more expensive than the 275/40/17 tire prices currently. And this wheel package looks great on our Firebird 3rd gens.

Just my opinion though

Re: 17" snowflakes are on, for good o-yea: UPDATE LOWERED

yes, they are for the 2nd gen, and absolutly no mods needed to work. i have lowered the bird and the front tires havent rubbed anything yet. the nitto 555 extremes that i used are only $141.00 each w/free shipping from www.discounttiredirect.com . i think it a hell of a deal and to me look way better than the 92 firehawk wheels.

You have the 275/40/17 on the front with no rubbing...full lock to lock? I had researched and thought there would be some rubbing at full left or full right...

Re: 17" snowflakes are on, for good o-yea: UPDATE LOWERED

That car looks GREAT. I am refinishing a set of the 15 X 8 snowflakes for my Bird. I love the look of them but want more old school so 15's. My Bird will not be lowered due to the incline to get under my carport and the speed dips here. I must admit though that the lowered pic looks real sharp. When done my Bird will look very similar to yours just by coincidence.

Fabulous looking car man! I've got a GTA clone and I want some new wheels...I've always thought about those snowflakes from Year One but now I'm sold!

Did you keep the tire diameter the same even though you went up in rim size or did you change that and change your speedo gears to accomodate?

It looks to me like he's got it lowered about 1.5" or so, the Hotchkiss lowering kit? That's what I've got on mine and it looks about the same.

Re: 17" snowflakes are on, for good o-yea: UPDATE LOWERED

This is the first rim besides the Factory GTA wheel that i just love on our cars. The problem with the GTA wheel is there is no larger option. What do you sapose is the largest diameter wheel we can fit under a factory wheel well? And what with? I was thinking of using either an 18 or a 19" rim, maybe be able to squeez a 10" width since my car now sits on coil overs and not factory suspension.

those look nice, i always wanted to see a black 3rd gen bird with 2nd gen flakes', I also would like to see these BR snowflakes on a 3rd gen but im not ponying up that kinda dough when i already bought my rims...

Heres an ebay ad with lots of BR pics

Can anyone good with photoshop put a set of BRs on a Flame Red GTA? I have a GTA Vert and wouldnt mind seeing how they would look on it. Almost 3K for a set seems nuts though! Could anything be done with this pic or do I need to get a better one?

The 17' rims look perfect on that car. Since some of the replies on this thread mentioned it, here's a few pics of some second gen 15x8's I had on hand bolted on my new basket-case rs. They fit the offset and go lock to lock. My apologies for the visual downgrade, It's a work in progress.
