New Wheels? Opinions, please!

Hi guys. I'm thinking about ordering some new wheels in the near future. I'm going with 18" all around, and with a staggered setup. I'm trying to go 18x8.5 in the front and 18x10 in the rear. I currently have two sets that I really like, but not sure which one to choose. This is where you guys come in.

Oh, I almost forgot. I have a 1988 IROC, Medium Orange Metallic, that's getting repainted shortly as well. Currently has stock, gold, 16" wheels. Getting rid of the gold striping and decal on the door and replacing it with silver.

First (and the one I'm slightly leaning towards) is the XXR 006 with Copper lip.
They don't make these in 18x10, so I'd have to settle for 18x9.5. I want to get about a 295 tire in the back. They are as follows:
Front: 18x8.5 w/ 2" lip
Back: 18x9.5 w/ 3.5" lip.

Next is the XXR 521, black with machined, stepped lip. These come with removable rivets, which I would probably get painted MMO to match the car.
Front: 18x8.5 w/1.75" lip (picture below)
Back: 18x10 w/3.5" lip

Again, any input is greatly appreciated. I always wanted this car to have a "Halloween" feel; orange and black. It has a black interior. I've attached two pics of the wheels mocked up.
Thanks for reading! -Matt

I'm digging the copper lip wheels. If you are keeping the car the same color my opinion is those. Do you have to run spacers with these?

Thanks! I may have to use small ones. The front has a little over 6" bs, and the back has a little over 6.5" bs. I'm going to figure that out when I have them in my possession, simply because I don't know where I want them to sit. But yeah, probably .5" all around.

I love those XXR wheels, but wish they didn't have a million holes drilled in them.

I agree with both of you about the bolt holes. I'm going with the copper ones. As for those wheels you posted, yes they will. They should bolt right on, no spacers. But you'll probably want some for the front. Probably 1", but it's up to your preference.

you will need a spacer about 1" or so front and rear to keep them in the stock location. that requires longer wheel studs and hubcentric slip on spacers.

all these wheel, above and the OP's are the 5x120 pattern. not "correct", as stock is 120.65, but people use them.

sadly enough... the first thing I think when I see these wheels are honda's and mazda's..... Its too bad really because they are nice wheels... just doesnt screen muscle car to me. but that.. is my own personal opinion and most likely not shared by many. They do look nice though.

This is true. I forgot to say about the hub centric rings. The longer studs may not need to be used, depending on if you have bolt-on adapter spacers with the new studs on them already, unless those are too short as well. And yeah, they are off 0.65mm. Just make sure they're torqued correctly and check on them once in a while.

The back wheel could be a little better, but the front looks ok.

Re: New Wheels? Opinions, please!

A 285 is about the limit on a 9.5 according to most tire makers.

18x8.5 245/40 front
18x9.5 285/35 rear

Re: New Wheels? Opinions, please!

I like the copper wheels but I must say I don't think the color goes with your paint. not close enough to the same color and not enough different to contrast. Of course what we like doesn't matter as long as you like them.

Can you photoshop some stripes at the botton of the gfx maybe with a darker one at bottom, color of wheels in center and something lighter just above that? Kinda like the factory stripes on some camaros but in different colors? That would give the wheels something to match to like matching a tie to a shirt/pants with just a little bit of color that matches

It wasn't the picture I was talking about. I was saying that my editing could have been a little better. Sorry for the mix-up!

This photo shows what it looks like in the sunlight. This color changes a lot, depending on given sunlight. I looked at the wheels on different cars, and in the right light, it changes much like my paint.

Anyway, thanks everyone. I'm actually not buying wheels at the moment now. Working on the drivetrain first.
