42mm offset on 8" rim??
42mm offset on 8" rim??
I tried to find out myself whether these would fit, but I had a hard time getting a definite answer. There is a set of BMW rims that I am interested in buying. They are 18 x 8 with a 42mm offset. Will these fit??
Thanks in advance, Peter

you will need a 42mm bolt on adapter, +/- a couple mm (1 5/8" is about it, if you can find it), and preferably one that will convert the bolt pattern from the 5x120 the bmw uses to the 120.65 the 3rd gen uses.

The 120.65 bolt circle is fine, that's just .325mm off per stud, not a problem. I have bimmer wheels on multiple chevies, driven for years without probs. Just use the correct hubcentric rings

120 and 120.65 are the same bolt pattern, you will need spacers much like running 4th gen rims or vette rims but the pattern is the same if it is in fact a 120.65 on the BMW.

IMO years of experience outweighs an opinion, not that your opinion doesn't matter but if it was a prob I'm sure I would have had a failure. This includes WOT runs down the german autobahn and driving like an idiot

Re: 42mm offset on 8" rim??
That's fine and I understand, not trying to argue here, just stating facts incase the OP did not know the difference in the pattern. However, like I said, this is something I would not do on my own car, nor would I tell sombody else that its perfectly ok without mentioning the difference because if something did happen I would not want that on my hands. Its just the way I am.
I know people use this pattern and I have not seen a failure first hand, but that doesn't mean the possibility is not there, especially for someone who is uninformed and installes a wheel like this without a hubcentric adapter, since without, the wheel can be pulled way off center if all the lugs are not evenly and gradually tightened.
I hope you see my point here and that I'm not trying to be difficult, just providing the needed information.
