I've teamed up with CTW Motorsports to try to give the 4th gens a run for their money. These new rims that Paul has produced will finally allow me to run 275's on a light, economical rim all while giving me room to step up to a big brake package. Plus they look killer too.

During the season, I plan to get real data utilizing my traqmate which should prove the benefit of running the beefier 275s over my previous 16" GTA rims on 255s.

If you want to see my video's during the year and see some results check out my facebook page:

Is 20.4# the weight? What tires are you running and what's the combined weight of a wheel and tire? What are the wheels? Size? How much? Where'd you get them?

I'm running shaved 275 40 RA1's. Unshaved they are listed at 29#s. I think mounted they came in at just under 50# mounted. The wheels are 17x9.5 and are by CTW motorsports. They are $1,125 per set plus shippping.

These tires are very heavy and are meant for racing use only.

As an example in our shop, I have a set of Continental Extreme Contact DW in 275-40-17 and they come in at 45lbs each, one pound less than a stock 1992 Z28 wheel with a 245-50-16 tire. With the Falken 615k tires, they come in at 47lbs each.

Depends on the tires, but yes they do come within a # or two.

But lace TA wheels with a 245-50-16 will come in lighter - but the advantage of brake clearance and tire width is too much to overcome.
