1986 IROC Center Caps w/o IROC Logo
I have a 1982 Z28 with the 16" IROC rims. They look good, but I would like to have center caps that say nothing, or Z28 (preferred). I don't want the IROC logo since it doesn't match and its not an IROC. Does anyone know where I could purchase these? Or perhaps ideas of how to make my own?

As far as I know, no one manufactures anything like that.

I don't believe any of those will fit an IROC 16" wheel. If so, please confirm.

I appreciate the response, and please let me know how you got those Z28 badges on your iroc rims. Something like that would be great.

They clip in, but I'm not against a red neck fix if it comes down to that.

Mine appear to be glued on, looks like some kind of epoxy.

Seeing the parts of the cap may be helpful. Check post #6:

Re: 1986 IROC Center Caps w/o IROC Logo
Which wheels do you have? the 85-87 style or the later style?
I had a set of the early wheels that I sold because of the lack of any cap availability other than IROC caps. Didn't want to put those on my RS

You can kinda see a little bit of epoxy squeezed out the one side.
I keep meaning to take the Z28 ones off of mine, need to just get some bowties or something.

So where did you get those Z28 badges? Are they badges from the 15" wheels just epoxied onto the IROC rims. I am good with this solution, I just need to know what will fit.

Re: 1986 IROC Center Caps w/o IROC Logo
I do vaguely remember the guy I bought them from saying something about taking the covers off of some other rims and gluing them on. It's been several years though.
If they'll come off i'd just trade you for yours.. lol
They should clean up and look good, i'll have to take a better look though.

I've seen them on Ebay too. I'd be interested in your old ones too.

Re: 1986 IROC Center Caps w/o IROC Logo
I've been searching for something like this for a while myself. With IROC rims on my sport coupe, a centre cap with no logos is my preference.
One thing I've considered is to have a machine shop produce some from aluminum bar stock. The bar could be turned down to the appropriate O.D. and then parted off at a reasonable thickness. Sort of like a solid aluminum "slug" or disc.
Epoxy would then be the way to go.
I'm just not sure what a shop might charge to slice off four discs though. You would think it wouldn't be much more than what a used set of OEM caps is selling for on E-Bay. Around 60 bucks.

Re: 1986 IROC Center Caps w/o IROC Logo
I found a solution that worked well for me (only took me 2 years to find something I liked) and if no logo is what you want skinny z than I found a good solution for that as well. Only thing is you will have to install stang parts on your camaro....
I took these center caps (6.99 a piece): http://www.americanmuscle.com/silver...enter-cap.html
and put a 2-1/4" dia. Z28 decal from a 1996-2002 10 spoke rim (10.99 for 4).
I cut off the tabs on the back since it clearly won't snap in and just put a touch of epoxy on them. They fit nice and tight and this is what it came out like.

Re: 1986 IROC Center Caps w/o IROC Logo
nice tip! a chevy bowtie would look nice too
Re: 1986 IROC Center Caps w/o IROC Logo
I went through the same dilemma. I wanted IROC wheels, but not to badge them as one. I took the center piece out of the caps and got 4 chevy cruze center caps. Ground the lip off that was crimped around the plastic and the metal face fit perfect inside the old cap. I used stuff called e6000 to glue them, though I cut them so tight it prolly did not need it. It's not easy getting a perfect circle, but that was my solution.

dude.....

but.. those caps wouldn't work on the wheel we are talking about. The 85-87 cap size is different than the 88-90

I'll tell you what. If I had to cut a perfect circle they wouldn't look like that!
Re: 1986 IROC Center Caps w/o IROC Logo
thanks. I searched around a lot for stickers and all the other options of caps that fit for a while. Then the wife had a cruze rented when some idiot Tboned her charger and I got to looking at them and did some measurements........
Re: 1986 IROC Center Caps w/o IROC Logo
Edit; Sorry just saw the different size quote. Anywho, gives you another option to think about. Measure and check around on other cars.

I like the look of the both of those. Those Mustang caps are cheap too. Did you have to modify them like the Cruz caps were?
