No pics, but a 195/70 will fit a 15x7 front, and a 295/50 will fit a 15x8 rear.

Re: wheels and tires

Order 4.5" or 5", depending on how you feel about them sticking out versus rubbing the inner edges. I'd start with 4.5", but you can always space out the five inchers.

My favorite combination.
235/60r15 on 7in. front and
255/60r15 on 8in. rear

Re: wheels and tires

Front wheels are 15x4's (can't remember the tire size, but they are skinny)

Back wheels are 15x8's with 275/60/R15's.

No clearance or rubbing issues.

Re: wheels and tires

Verified and my rear wheels have a 4.5" backspacing.

As for the tires, they aren't anything special, just a generic radial, I think they are rated to 120 or 130mph or something, just a street tire. They are 275/60/R15.

Re: wheels and tires

oh okay now, do you have any rear end work or is it all stock? and do the tire stick out past the wheel flare? do you possibly have any side angles or a strait view from the rear?

No rear end work, it is a stock 9 bolt out of (I think) an 87 IROC, but I never saw the rest of the car (just came across the rear end, if you follow me). It all bolted up just fine with no adjustments, so that leads me to believe it hasn't been modified.

The only thing is that I have monroe shocks, they are the OEM size, but are gas shocks so they provide the tiniest amount of air. (NOT to be confused with air shocks).

The tires are tucked nicely inside the lip of the fender, I've attached some pics. I apologize for the lighting.

Re: wheels and tires

very nice, so i guess ill go with the, 275/60 as well because i have american racing 23 rims on my car 15 x 8 with the same 4.5 backspacing i was just worried that the 275 tire would run past the lip and look like a 4x4 pick up if you know what i mean, and if you would ever be interested in selling your draglites let me know ide love to have some draglites but there more expensive than how much i paid for the car once you get some tires on them, and i aprieciate the pictures

Re: wheels and tires

No problem, and if I decide to sell them I'll definitely post them up on here, that might be a while down the road though. Can't tell if you're asking me about the wheel spacers or Ron, but I can say that I don't have any wheel spacers. The "quote" button helps to direct your specific question to people. Post some pics when you put the new tires on!!

Re: wheels and tires

No spacers. If you running AR-23s in 15in. then you have a 3.75 backspacing. They are in the same class as the AR-Outlaw series that also only come that way. The 255/60r15 is the largest tire I can fit without it sticking out to far. At least for me it is. I got lucky because the AR-23s in that BS are perfect. The bulge of the tire is flush with the flair and the tread just tucked into the well. Exactly the way I like them.
You might call around to shops and see if they have that 275/60r15 in a used tire and have them mount one on your wheel just to look if that's acceptable. If they charge you $20.00 to rebalance the one you have now so what. Don't spend good money on a nice set of tires just to find out they don't fit. Once you have mounted a new tire it’s yours.
As you can see in the last photo the 255/60r15s are not small tires. Those are 235/60r15 front.IMO anything more than that belongs on a track car.

okay, i love your car, so if the 255/60/r15 is flush on your car then the 275/60/r15 would stick out about an inch or two wouldnt it?

Re: wheels and tires

According to Summit Racing =
255/60r15s
Section width = 10.2in
tread width = 8.2in
overall diameter = 27in.

275/60r15s
section width = 11in.
tread width = 8.9in
overall diameter = 28in.

section width = .7in difference
tread width = .7in difference
diameter =1in difference.

So they might be out around 3/4in. further .

If they rub at all I would say install some Moog 5665 springs rear and a set of KYB Gas-a-just shocks. That should give you a nice stiff ride with very little bounce.

i decided to order a set of the draglites, do you drive on the 15x4s alot? and do you have any different angled shots of your car like a strait front end and a side shot?

Re: wheels and tires

A 15in.x4in. wheel on a street car is really pushing it. You’re talking about a typical tread width of 4in. on the ground. On a straight track yes but jumping on the freeway at 55/65 on a circle ramp in the rain is just asking to slide into the wall/rail etc. I don't know what you're going to use this car for or how much HP you have but IMO a street car needs to have some tread on the ground. With the large 275s and a decent amount of power every time you accelerate at WOT or anywhere near that the car wants to lift the front. That means less downward force holding the car on the ground. 4in wheels and a tiny tire = trouble on the street.

Those that only use their cars as "weekend warriors" in perfect weather or trailer queens that only see a track than you might get away with it. If you drive your car like me, every day, rain or shine then wheel and tire size is very important for safety reasons.

I found this photo and even though its a very nice car I would think twice about driving it in the conditions described above. =

I totally agree with Ron on this one, man. My car is simply a weekend warrior, never gets driven in the rain, etc. Even though I only drive it once or twice a week I still plan on swapping my 15x4's to a 15x7 up front this spring just so I can have some cornering ability(and make it safe to drive in the rain if I ever had to). I love the look of the skinny's, but after having them for a few years now I'm kind of over it. I still plan on keeping the meat in the back but that's just my personal view.

I couldn't get a good shot of the front of my car (it's in the garage, taking it's winter nap....nose first, so I can't really get a pic of the front lol). But it looks EXACTLY like the pic that Ron just linked in his post. It's a mean look, but you may wanna consider a wider front.

Also, I got my 'draglites' from Jegs, their name brand runs a little cheaper than the Weld's do, and look just as good IMO.

Plus the skinny's make braking harder (sudden stops that is).
