SLP ZR-1 wheels?

Can anyone tell me if anyone still sells the SLP ZR-1 style wheels anymore? I know its a probable long shot.

Those wheels are just beautiful.

I've looked at a lot of the ZR-1 style wheels lately, and most are in the 50's ish offset, weather there the 9.5's or 11 wides....not the look I'm after. I like the zero offset of the SLP's, (even tho the were only 8" wide) but more importantly the "dished" look.

However, I've seen a few 'vette specific sites that sell the ZR-1 styles in a 30's offset, specifically for the earlier model C4's, does anyone know if these types have some of that beautiful "dish" that the SLP's had?

If anyone has pictures or links to what I am after, post them please.

Thanks.

Re: SLP ZR-1 wheels?

SLP hasn't made or sold those wheels in years now.

They look very similar to normal ZR1 wheels with just a few visual differences - hence the ZR-1 wheel name.

Considering SLP's wheels are only 8" wide and at best fit a 245 width tire, the ability to do anything other than effect looks is minimal, unlike a ZR-1 wheel which can fit a 275 tire.

Keep in mind that dished wheels can severely limit brake options due to clearance issues.

Get the reproduction 17x11 wheels with +36.5mm offset for 87 Vette fitment.
Narrow them at the inner bead to 8.5 width.
Have +9.5mm offset 17x8.5" wheels.

Re: SLP ZR-1 wheels?

have you considered spacers? with +32-56mm offsetts you would need 1.5-2in spacers

Re: SLP ZR-1 wheels?

Yea, you'd definitely need spacers, but I was hoping with the "C4" style 36 offset, it would be more dished- or have more lip.

After searching and searching, I believe the difference in offset is made up in the center around the lug nuts.

The only way would be to take 17 x11's and have them cut down to 9-9.5 or so.

Re: SLP ZR-1 wheels?

Needless to say that taking a set of 11" wide wheels and cutting them down to 9.5" or even 8.5" is counterproductive at best. Not to mention the fact it costs quite a bit to do 4 wheels properly.

You are best served by buying wheels that fit or a set that fit with spacers...

Re: SLP ZR-1 wheels?

I wouldn't narrow the rears, just the fronts. Use spacers and offset wheel sizes to achieve the look I wanted.

However, I just don't believe it's worth it. Time to move on and find another wheel style.

Maybe I'll de-chrome my 17" iroc repro's and do 'em up factory style....

Thanks for the info folks.

you are absolutely correct a 32, 36, 38, 56 mm offset zr1 visually will look the same laying next to each other, when you mount them they will look slightly different on the car. my +32mm rims sit about a .5-.75 in further out than my +56mm factory 10spokes on my 2002

Uploaded with ImageShack.com

to get that lip you need to buy a "deep dish" style zr1, they make both a regular and a dished versions. to my knowledge they only have them in 4thgen offsets in both styles available aftermarket. so you must run a spacer.

www.oewheelsllc.com has both styles for some reason their website isnt working right now
