Need help with tire size for 91 Camaro RS

I have been scanning the internet looking at tire sizes. The problem is most people are talking about 16" rims and higher where I have 15" rims. I have a duel flowmaster exhaust that is in a horrible spot about the middle of the car. I scrape it all the time so I am hoping to lift the car a little bit by getting new rear end tires. Currently I run 235/60R/15. I cant afford to move the exhaust right now so this is my only hope at gaining a little more space. I already called Tire Rack and they couldnt tell me what would and wouldnt fit. So any help would be awsome! I dont want to order something only to find out it doesnt fit! The speedomoter isnt an issue as she has a 350 and it isnt hooked up anyway.

Oh and meet Elita!

In all honesty, I would think fixing the exhaust would be cheaper than tires.

I havent gotten a quote on exhaust other then being told it would be 2K to put the OEM unit back on which I have laying in the garage. I need a new tire anyway as it is bald from the last owner. I assume moving my exhaust a few feet will cost less then $240 in tires. If you know for sure I am wrong then let me know!

Depends on what shop you go to honestly. The 235s up front are about as good as you'll get (that's what I plan to eventually run, maybe 225s). In the back you have some options to provide lift. My rear wheels are 15x8's with 4.5" backspacing and I run a 275/60/R15's with no issue and they tuck very nicely. They are a 28" tire, so that gives me 2" of lift in the back which helps my exhaust to clear (I have true dual 2.5" pipes coming off of longtube headers which run up the middle of the undercarriage).

You can also run 255s and give yourself a little bit of lift as well, plenty of people on here run that size.

hope that helps.

OK what I dont understand is if I already have 235/60/15, how is 255/60/15 going to give me more height? Am I wrong in thinking the middle number needs to increase for height? I really appreciate the help!!

glad to help.

The middle number is a %, meaning that the height of the sidewall will be that % of the width of the tire. So, as you can imagine, 60% of 255 provides a taller tire than 60% of 235. Make sense?

I will. I'll take a pic at home tonight of the rear end. Then another when the tires get put on. I even had someone pull up next to me yesterday in a beat up van and say "hey your exhaust is real low." I was like gee thanks I had no idea.
