Wheels and TiresNeed help with wheels or tires? Got fitment issues? Have questions about tire performance and handling? Ask all of those questions here!
Got a tire size question. I would like to know what the widest rear tire I can run on 10'' rims with a stock width differential. I can run a 29.5x10.5x15 MT slick with a slight bit of trim work on the wheel wells, but when looking up tire dimensions to equate to the slick size, nothing seems to ad up. And no two places I look them up from agree on section/tread width/ or diameter sizes. Any help is appreciated.
I ran a 8" wheel with 5" backspace with a 28"x10.5" slick. on the same wheel a 29x10.5 slick and it rubs inner fenderwell and rear gfx with bumpstop cut believe it only rub when turning has spool . just went with 15"x10" with 6.5" backspace with offset lwr control arms and wolfe mini tub. no rubbing now.

Thanks RedLeader! Would you mind sharing a picture or two of your ride so I can see what 275's would look like?
I'm trying to pack as much rubber under there as possible and use the old rims I have to boot. Thanks for the reponse!!
Sure thing! Here are some. Most of these pics are before the paint job. I also included a couple up close of the wheel well so you can get an idea of what that is like. I'm running a 9-bolt rear end, just fyi. I don't believe it makes any difference but it's worth noting.
I did install them and took them right back off. They were plenty wide, but too short. Looked kinda dorky to me. So I ponied up and bought 28x11.5x15 Hoosier quick Time Pros. Love the look and fit nicely. I think I may stuff a 29 under there next year. Here's a few with the new hood and rear balognies....
Thanks for the kudos! I have gotten a lot of the demons out of this thing since I bought it a couple of years ago. Rear suspension all upgraded, front end lowered and new drilled and slotted GM rotors, stainless brakelines all around, Eaton posi and girdled cover. Waiting to do rear disc swap, aluminum radiator, DeRali pan, new trans and oil coolers, and interior upgrades this winter. Got a pile of parts but not much time to work on it. Barely been out with it this year. The recent pics are on the way to car show in Perry, Kansas. Had a ball. I was the only third gen there.....
I just bought these Centerlines this weekend. Wanted the Billet Specialties wheels but whoa man are they expensive. Got these for a song over the weekend. They are a 315/60/15 Mickey Thompson ET Street in the rear. Couldn't believe they fit and have room inside for more. What do ya'll think?
This looks like a tight fit, but the right offset. Do you know the rear wheel width & backspace / offset of those wheels so I can verify my calculations?
How close is it to hitting the inner fender? you probably want to be careful on launch, the car will settle when launching and you might catch an edge.. (just something to watch for.)

Not sure what offset they are. I do know I have at least an 1-1/2'' clearance to the inside from the tire to inner fender. They are a 30'' tall tire with close to 12'' of tread width. I know there isn't a lot of fender lip clearance, and haven't driven it much less tried to do a hard launch, but for no more than I gave for the set, I was happy to see they would fit under the car. They are a big damn tire for sure. I won't run them, but it was a cool pic anyway.
