285/40/19 will it fit?
285/40/19 will it fit?
Hey - searched through the forums and couldn't find anything specific to this fitament. I have 19x10 c6's for the back of my stock height 82 - and I'm looking at some cheap 285/40/19 tires I found - will they fit?? (With 2.5" spacers)

Probably possible, but probably not easy. I'm guessing you did what I did, bought a new pair of 19x10s from OEWheels for $50 each, then couldn't find affordable tires. Try this: http://simpletire.com/catalog?select...30&rim=19&zip=
275/30R19s for $ 76 each, new. Rated to 168 MPH.

The tires would be too tall and would need bending of metal. I just went through this with my 18. I went 285/35/18 to 285/40/18 and needed to bend some metal inside and out.

So it sounds like i really do need to stick with 285/35/19 to make them fit easier - yeah? Seems like that's what most guys go with

For a 19x10.0" wheel, a 275 is the best width, and a 275/30R19 is barely shorter than a 245/50R16.

The rear of this Porsche is sporting a 275/30 on a 10.0, you can see the 275 is plenty wide.

That picture of the Porsche has continental extreme contacts that are usually 1 inch wider tread than competing tires. They are wider than Hankook 295/30/19's. Do your homework.

They will fit with alot of work inside. Beat the well back, and with the right offset wheel it fits fine
I run 305/35/19's

Re: 285/40/19 will it fit?
Fail; Continentals claim the sidewall tread, not just what actually touches the road when new, BFG started doing it too. In real life, the Continentals are narrow. My buddy bought a used Mustang GT that had Contis on it, he replaced them with Sumitomos, same size, and they looked an inch wider than the Continentals. You go do your homework, don't just look up the advertised tread width, it's usually wrong.

The blue convertible. The rims are 19x10.5 (+25mm offset) with Goodyear F1's 285 35 19's. I hit the front inner corner of the rear wheel well with a small sledge hammer and they do not hit. They fit nicely.
