18" wheel and tire combo help

Good morning all, I recently acquired some 18" TT II wheels with 0 offset. Does anyone know if a 245/55 18 tire will fit up front with out rubbing. Have stock suspension and no spacers. I have had one tire shop tell me they will rub on hard turns and another tell me that they will clear???
Sorry it's a 89 formula.

That's a small truck tire, 28.5" diameter. It will never work in the front. It will even be close in the rear.

You need a 245/40/18 up front on that wheel.

Both of those shops are clueless, don't go to there anymore.

K thanks, I was looking at the cooper zeon g1 tire. Wanted the tallest sidewall with the wheel due to bad roads down here in NC. i will be having a young driver in the house and didn't want a torn up tire and wheel.

I would like to see what you end up with. I am interested in doing sort of the same thing.

You need a smaller diameter wheel if you want more sidewall, 25.7" tall is the stock diameter, you can squeeze a 26 in there but it will start rubbing

Re: 18" wheel and tire combo help

Greetings from Jamestown/High Point NC! Where are you? -and where are there bad roads in NC?! I'm from New Jersey, so an old gravel service road is a good road to me!

I've always used this calculator. https://tiresize.com/calculator/ ....and I typically would want to stay withing 25.5" to 26" tall. Maybe run the factory 15" or 16" wheels for a year, let him (her?) put the 18"s on after they've proven themselves with the car?

here's another vote for this option. It gives you more sidewall and less expensive tires. And it gives the kid a chance to learn to drive without as much worrying about the wheels.
