My car isn't actually a Trans Am but it has all the ground effects and such off a Trans Am so you get the idea

89fff
. This is when I first bought it. Now it sports the black crosslace wheels.

Cool!..I like the look of the dish style of the Formy wheels!!!!..that was my idea to see how they would look with T/A ground effects.

Some 17in black crosslace wheels would be killer on your car

Re: Formula wheels on a Trans Am?

They will pop with the black. Will they pop too much???? Look at 2nd photo down, for the popping effect I'm talking about. https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/memb...ml#post6443694

I think they look great on the Formulas, because there is no ground effect. I'd like to see a sunnier photo of DC's car, in the darker photo, its as if they almost get lost in the ground effects. I kind of like what you have on there now too, because it's sort of a cross over from the Knight Rider car. Are those factory? If so, hang on to them.

Sold em for $50 scrap metal. Couldn't give them away. They were in really good shape too, had them listed awhile

Yes those are the factory 16 x 8 wheels in the WS6 package.

I'm not typically a fan of crosslace wheels, but in this case, if you're set on another OE-style wheel, then I agree, 17" black will be impressive. On your all black car(black body w/black gfx), 17" black crosslace wheels w/their aluminum rims will bring the red stripe to life.

I had a buddy, back in 1990, who had a black formula, the rims looked great on it - but that was loooong ago. just hard to picture a black T/A with them. you know who is good at this sort of stuff tho, my wife. I'll ask her.

Re: Formula wheels on a Trans Am?

I believe I read that there is potential for the front rims may rub due to the difference in offset - cars originally equipped with 15x7 wheels.

Sorry I don’t have reference for that but I do believe I found it here on thirdgen.

They will definitely rub if you accidentally put the backs on the fronts. I'm thinking all of these cars have the same basic setup, so don't know why they would rub. check and see if they have same steering parts.

Re: Formula wheels on a Trans Am?

Here's a pic of KR81's car, as an example of what yours would look like with black wheels. They would also highlight your car's red stripe. And these wheels are available in 17", Formula wheels are not.

But I understand that LiquidBlue's wife has spoken. Don't want a woman scorned, what which fury hell hath no.
