what size rims, what backspacing and what did you do to the car to make them fit?

I had 275/60/15 tires on stock rims on the back of my Camaro when I bought it.

 

Got 285/40-17 BFG KDW on the rear with Centerline Saber and 5" backspace.

 

295/35/18....don't know the backspacing but they are a +58mm offset and 10.5

 

i have um 275/65-15's on the back of my car on 15x8 rim 4.5bs 0mm offset Draglite.







Hope that helps. if you go with like what i have rolling the rear lip is a good idea but does not have to be done and they fit fine.

 

I have 275/60/R15 tires on 15x8 wheels. I put air shocks on the rear so my fenders don't rub. works great.

 

275/40/17 on a 17x9.5 Rim with 7" Backspacing.(4thGen Rear)

 

You can go with a 10 inch rim 5.5 back spacing.

i use a 295/50/15 on stock 15inch z28 wheels on my 86 camaro

Wholy Crap! - I didn't think 295/50's would fit under the car on stock rims. - oh well. Doesn't help me much having 16" GTA wheels. I'll be running 295/50/15's on the back as soon as I get my 15x10 convo pro's though...

those rims are 15 x 7 inch? i am amazed that the 295/50/15s fit on the rims so well and dont bulge out. those seem to fit as well as my 255/60/15 tires. any tips on how you got those tires to fit on to the rims so well? and the tires dont rub or anything? thanks.

 

no the tires don't rub at all. i work at a custom wheel shop and we do all sorts of tire/wheel combos on cars. had a set of 295's in the shop and i mounted them on to see if they would fit and they did no problem. my shocks and springs are also gone on the car. its on the trailor in the pic because its going to get the radiator support welded in this week, then off to my shop. going to put 2002 ws6 springs in the rear with my air lift and KYB shocks.

and these 295 width tires fit fine on 15x 7 rims, not bulging out or sidewalls getting to squishy?

Most 15" tires will fit a 15" x 7" rim. A 295/50 should only be mounted on an 8.5" or wider rim according to manufacturer. Don't let the photo fool ya. There is extreme sidewall tapering going on there. It makes for a weak mounted tire most likely....

 

hehehe...thats why i asked the question twice. for exmaple BFG recommends nothing bigger wider than 255/60/15 tire on a 7" wide rim. now i know that they just covering their asses and you can go a little wider without any sidewall problems, but 295 seems way to wide for a 7" rim. however, in the pictures there doesnt appear to be too much sidewall flex/tapering......so i am not sure what to think about this. seems like some of these guys have had really wide tires with no problems......

 

Go for it ...but keep them underinflated so you'll get some decent tread wear

i've been working as a service tech for years now. there is nothing wrong with 295/50's on a 15x7 wheel. i don't know who told you to use 8.5 and above but thats not right. as you can see the 295's fit fine on the 15x7's. i don't see how a photo would be fooling anyone if its real....i wouldn't have commented on the topic if i didn't know anything about it

 

let me restate "according to most automotive tire manufactures websites" ....'nuff said

 

how abou 295/40R17 or 285/40R17 on a 17x9.5" rim?

 

on a 17, the biggest you can go is a 315 with the right backspacing without tubbing the wells.
