anyone seen this months car craft??
if you did how effective do you think that camaro combo is? is it worth while? cause i was thinkin if copying it (kinda).... the magazine makes it sound like it was a really easy swap.
combo:gmpp350 ho creight engine 330hp 380lb tourque, vortec heads, holly 670cfm tbi, 87 c1500 ecm....... dosent say what intake but does say that everything changed over easily ie. accessories, and smog crap they show a pic of it and it really does look like an easy swap
and ohh yeah is that computer a good match for that?

a bunch of guys on this board have that motor. jprevost got a trap speed of 102mph with a half dead fuel pump and in need of more tuning. it is a great motor, very strong power and a warranty at a reasonable price. there are prolly 4 or 5 other guys here with it too, dunno what they run though.

ok i was going to find out the cam from gm or someone here.... and build a .30 over version....since i have .30 over slugs already and use that computer set up...
i believe teh scoggins dickey web site, www.sdpc2000.com , lists teh specs of the cam. that motor comes with a flat tappet cam stock, if you have a roller block will get a bit more power from teh same specs, or you can get a little bit biger cam and get even more power out of it. i believe the stock vortec springs are good to .480 or .490. look for a nice dual pattern grind around that lift area with a 112ish lobe seperation and you will ahve great performance and a little bit of a rumble at idle.

yeah, i read it also, that guy is from CA. They are suppose to be illegal because of the Vortec heads and the EGR being an external system. If he can pass smog, i might have to invest in that engine also intend of the L05.
You see how he had to make it look like all his smog equipment was still hooked up, even the stock air cleaner, that thing would choke the hell out of the engine.

yea i was thinking the same but i figure i can throw the factory stuff on for emissions ie. aircleaner and cat and after emissions i can rip it back off
i think i might go in that direction since it will be fairly inexpensive and i have a whole short block ill jist need to get a cam heads intake and tbi not to mention the little stuff but it will be better than buying a crate..... plus ill have piece of mind that I did it

I saw the list posted here of bolt-ons CHP used, but anyone can do that. The keys are whether CHP added a bigger fuel pump and exactly what tweaks they made in the ECM to suit the needs of the new motor.
And finally, did they actually do a before/after test? If not, then they really didn't tune it properly and IMO the article is a waste of time, and suited only to showcase the manufacturers parts.
