Aluminum Sill Plates

Hello,
A company called Sherwood Designs, has made a "Dash Kit" for thirdgen Camaro's and Firebirds. Included in this kit is Door Sills in either Aluminum, Burlwood, or Carbon Fiber. They said that if there was any interest that they would work with us and sell us the Sill Plates seperate from the kit. Now i'm gonna try to email them back for pictures, and ask them what the price would be. But is their any interest in this other than me?
Thanks,
mr_han_solo

If the price is right and the sill plates look "trick" then maybe.

If found this doing a websearch, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=40017.

Close-up pics of the sill plates in each of the three finishes would be great to have.

Ok,
I got an e-mail back with the prices. I quoted him ten sets (thats 5 driver and 5 passenger sills). They will be $21.50 per set. I will try to get a picture of it, but I would like to know who would purchase FOR SURE! We need ten buyers to get this thing rolling. camaro430sut, I'm in, are yall in FOR sure?
And Jade Grey does the price sound right to you? I will ask em if we can have anything engraved or painted on it, but i'm doubting that its possible.
Thanks,
mr_han_solo

Are you saying $21.50 per side of the car, or $21.50 for the driver and passenger side pair? If the latter ($21.50 per pair), where/who/how do I pay? I'm ready! You take PayPal by chance?

Its $21.50 for a pair, lol, sorry if its confusing. Well, before I give him to go, I would like to have atleast all ten sets with a buyer, cause the $21.50 price is for tn sets, and if we order less it may be a higher price, but if we can order more sets, the price will probably be lower. But I really hope I can get a picture, cause I do liek to know what i'm buying. I mean, If it sucks, I could have spent my $21.50 some way better.

$21.50 a pair is a great price. I'm in if we can get the minimum number for the GP.

I think that a picture of the product is necessary before a commitment to buy is made. The sill plates will be the approximate shape/thickness of the stockers and in a brushed aluminum finish, but I want to see an actual finished item.

Where are these being manufactured? If Canada, will shipping/fees be high? Is this the same company as Sherwood Dash, Inc. that operates out of Brampton, Ontario? The Ebay guy operates within this company, http://www.vevacorp.com/profile.htm, in Waterdown, Ontario.

mr_han_solo, are you contacting Sherwood Designs at (905) 689-4973? Keep us updated on any further developments.

Yep, thats the company, out of Ontario, and for the picture I have contacted them via e-mail, it usually takes a day or two for them to reply. So I hope that pictures will be here shortly.

I may be in depending on the picture. For sure try to get a picture of all three finishes. I'd be interested in either aluminum or carbon fiber.

If they look decent I'm up for one and possibly 3 - 4 with my friends so the pictures are the deciding factor

So long as they look good, and I don't get bent over on shipping, I'd be in for a set. Before I commit at all, I would like a guess as to what shipping will be, and of course pictures.

I'm in, new sill plates are definitely something I need, and aluminum will be a good color to offset the all black paint I'm gonna have!

Ok,
Got the return e-mail yesterday. Here is what it said:

It is possible to get a picture of these parts, we can send you one from the next kit that we make. Also, about the CAMARO being engraved onto the pieces, we can do it. This would cost an extra $16.50 per SET (left and right). Hope to hear from you soon.

Wonder when the next kit will be made, I guess I could inquire and wait another week for a return e-mail on when.
Anyways, here is an update on information.

I would ask them when that will be. Also, please find out what the shipping into the states is like.

Seriously. Since it's a trim piece why would you buy it -without- any pictures? What if it looks like crap? What if it isn't what you're expecting? We need pictures!

I'm kind of worried about how in their eBay auction they spelled Camaro as "Camero" and Manual as "Manuel" like the mexican name.

I guess we're waiting on the next order of a complete Camaro dash kit so the manufacturer can take a picture. Sounds lame to me. This GP is really shaky.

Inwo, I noticed the whole Camaro/Camero and Manual/Manuel thing when I originally posted the Ebay link into this thread. Some people just can not spell.

Is anyone with an early Camaro guinea-pig enough to order the entire dash kit for us?

I'm going to try and contact someone who has bought the kit from Ebay and see if he has any installed pictures.

Last week, I contacted an Ebay member named stuffc0 about his experience with the Sherwood Design dash kit.

My message:

I see that you purchased a Sherwood Designs Camaro dash kit back in May. I am trying to help set up a group purchase of just the aluminum sill plates from that kit. See this webpage, https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...20#post2497720.

Would you happen to have any installed pictures of the kit? Can you share any thoughts or criticisms about the product? Thanks for any help.

His reply

hey, im glad you are interested in this product. it did make the interior of my car look %300 better, thats for sure; for about two weeks! first of all, i was a little mad becuase they do not specify how the kit is installed. its a sticker that goes on over top. it scratches very very easy and also melts. two week after the kit was installed, it began to peel and crack. i was a little pissed off. my advice to you is DO NOT buy this product, its a waste of money. when i tried to get it replaced they weren't helpful, they said i had to send the broken product to them. why should i have to do that? i had pictures to back up my story.

His experience is not a ringing endorsement of the product. If the the sill plates just attach on top of the stock plastic pieces, then this GP is stupid. I want a replacement piece in solid aluminum.

I tried to contact the guy again to ask that question, but he did not reply.

I think that's what he's doing (replacement sill plates, not overlays) but since we've never gotten any pix or detailed ordering info, who knows?

Well guys, looks like it was too good to be true. I have been reading on what yall said about it being a stick on type thing. but I was holding out hoping it wasnt true. But i'm here to say that it looks as if it is. I kinda find this on the verge of false advertising, but it could be just cause i'm a bad mood over this. Attached is a picture of the sills. I'm sorry for all the 'hype' this may have caused, but from the way the guy talked to me, this was a replacement sill.
