Custom dual 3" into single 4" (pics)
I just finished this custom exhaust. I used a Flowmaster scavenger series Y-collector. It fits great and sounds awsome!
To make this fit in a lowered 84' Z28 I used Hedman LT's and notched the frame.
With a Mufflex 4" single exit exhaust, it sounds mean.

Holy crapola. I dont know how I feel about notching the frame on a flimbsy unibody car... Thats no weeny notch either 
I have a very similar setup only my 3" y-pipe is dented in (ghetto-fabbed ovalized!) as it goes under the trans crossmember. This gives it about an inch or so more clearance. I've never managed to scrape the actual exhaust on any driveway, incline, or speed bump but I have scrapped my Hooker LT collector flanges a few times.
Woah... that is one helluva notch

With the exhaust installed, the 3 inch pipes hang an inch below the frame. For the notches we used a piece of 3 1/2 sch 80 pipe, it has a wall thickness of a 1/4 inch. And we boxed it together with 1/8 inch plate. Then we welded it inside and out. Next we made our cuts to the frame. Alot of grinding and fitting to get it just right. Then we welded the whole peice onto the frame rail. I think it will be stronger than it was!

I wanted as much ground clearence as I could get. I used the single exit pipe so I could mount my fuel pump on the other side.

Not yet. I'm not sure how to get a video of it on here. I'll try my wife's camera next week when I get the headers back from ceramic coating.

Headers look great. Interesting approach on making room for the exhaust. Seems as if we all have issues with making room for big exhaust.
On my car I cut out the factory frame rail extensions on both the drivers and passenger side and relocated them for more room. I also built a custom dual 3" into a single 4" exhaust. If you look at the thread (and not trying to jack your thread) https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/exha...=1#post3176039 you will see my pictures. I still have to get my headers coated as well. They look great all coated up.
