How do I remove spoiler?
How do I remove spoiler?
I am going to remove my spoiler tomorrow and paint it with some rattle cans until I can get a new fiberglass one. How do I get this thing off? I'm sure I can figure it out, but I don't want any surprises. It looks like there are screws in the back. What's holding it on up front? It's the wrap around spoiler. Also, can I use a mouse sander to sand the old paint off? Thanks for any info! Matt

I don't have an aero wing, but to take it off, there should be like 4 bolts holding the wing up, which are hidden behind rubber plugs. The part where the thirdbrake light is might still be held in place with double sided bonding tape.
It should be simple to get off. If you have resistance removing it, don't force it, just try to gently wiggle it free.

yea i can tell you from expierience, if it doesnt come dont force it. on that same topic , yes there is something in the front holding it down, and yes if you dont do it right you will break the spoiler. of course i dont KNOW that you can break it
im just guessing. anyways on each side there are little tabs holding the spoiler down. one at the very tip of the spoiler and one about 6-8 inches back from there. once you have all of the bolts taken out, simply pull the spoiler towards the rear of the car, you should feel it release from the tabs, then you can just lift the spoiler off. just be carefull putting it back on, thats where it got me.

19WS6T/A91,
You have the 91 style wing though. Would the tabs apply to the Aero wing too, because I have never seen the tabs on the stock or aftermarket ones.

They aren't really tabs, but near the front of the wing there are hooks that hold it to the hatch glass. They are really easy to pry off. In fact, mine are so loose that they aren't really held on by anything anymore.

I am not going to argue with you since I don't have one. I guess there are tabs because the sides of the wing seem a little long to be unsupported by anything.

I don't think the spray paint will stick very good to that rubber spoiler.

The attached picture shows one of the clips that are attached to the hatch window frame. This one is on the passenger side, so you can see that you'd have to push forward for the spoiler insert to release from the clip.
ahhh, that is very different from mine. mine was like a hanger looking thing that was in the shape of a u and open towards the front of the car. sorry if i caused any confusion/problems. i was simply stating what i had been through on my car.
