Please tell me what you can about the CableX from Abbott. Do you like/dislike it? does it work as intended? etc....
Thanks

i guess if I go ahead an buy one, I will pretty much be a pioneer on the subject, and will then have to come back and answer my own question!

Bringing this topic back from the dead,
Why didn't you ever give your input?
I'm not happy w/mine. I got it about two months ago. Installed it, and it didn't work. Sent it back, got another (this time w/o directions) got the directions faxed to me after 5 trys. (?) Installed it set it up and it works.
Problem is, it waivers alot. Up to +/- 5 mph at around 75 mph. It's hard to tell exactly how fast you're going looking at the speedo. It's easier just to look at the tach and do quick math in your head.
Not that psyched about it.
Anyone else have any input on it?

Update
Well I've had it in now for about 5 months. It has gotten better. The "waivering" issue has gotten better by moving the box around somewhat to give the cable a straighter shot. It still waivers wildly at speeds around 25 mph and above 90. But in the range of most driving it's actually very smooth and accurate. I've clocked it on the highway next to several vehicles and it appears to be dead on accurate...when it's stable enough to read.

I'm thinking of mounting the cableX in the console underneath the power window switches. With my install, the cable should have only one curve in it.

I mounted mine to the right of the left fender well, resting on top of the "frame". Between the brake lines and the fender well. There is only one slight curve that way.

Since responding to this thread the last time, I have contacted the company who makes the CableX unit. I have also talked with BowTie Overdrives. Bowtie Overdrives recommends that the cable be ubicated with Lithium White Grease. This is not an offical recommendation, "not in print". I have always lubicated the speedometer cables in my Firebird with Lithium White Grease. I have never has a speedometer bounce problem.
The Lithium White Grease will reduce friction in the cable and allow the CableX unit to respond faster to speed changes.
I have already purchase and received the CableX unit from BowTie Overdrives. BowTie had the best price. Order it on Moday before Thanksgiving and received the day before Thankgiving.
I would like to clean up my engine compartment a little. So
I am going to try the console mount. Hopefully it will not cause any problems with my sterero system.
