well, what do you think? it's been bored .040 over and the decks on both heads and block have been zerod, looking at just under 10:1 compression, runs very strong.

right now, the cam and valves are stock specs, i don't think i will spend anymore money on this motor. i have spent alot of time and almost $3000 on this motor rebuild and i still want more horsepower. like i said, the 350 in that pic is mine, all i have to do if find a transmission. then i will build a 10:1 355 with a 750 holley vacuum secondary on top with at least a .490 lift cam.

ah i see. i have put over $1800 into my motor alone. i really have no interest in swapping to a 350 though. none the less great job on the rebuild. its a beautiful motor.

What paint have you used on the intake set up?
How was it prepped before the painting?

intake manifold was painted using regular black engine paint. all i did before i painted it was i cleaned it using an engine degreaser. thanks for the copmliments guys, i worked very hard on it. i also changed the 2.8 badge to 2.9...which was done just for kicks and grins...

Looks good.

Heh, I'm probably gonna paint my 3.4 block red also. I think I'll also paint the intake and plenum red.....PLUS, I have fiero valve covers which I already repainted red.

Hey, at least it'll match my interior.

yes, the motor has been running, it is very strong on the top end, pulls like a horse, but is stubborn like donkey on low end. i think that the stock cam and the slightly bigger bore/compression boost don't like each other very much on the low end, but man, 80-100 is soo easy in this car now, any where above 3500 and this beast pulls like a ****...

Any of you guys have a double roller timing chain? If yes, do did you have to modify the timing plate. I want to have my engine rebuilt. These are the things I plan on adding:

Double roller timing chain
9.5:1 compression pistions
Crane CompuCam 2030
Comp Cams 1.52 roller rockers
Bored Block .030 over
3 angle valve job
port and polish

and any parts neccesary for the rebuild.

I keeping the motor naturally aspirated and I am only planning on rebuilding the engine for maximum efficience instead of performance. I use my car for driving around. I like to cruise at a comfortable speed (55 mph) while listening to music.

Anyways, that is a nice looking 2.8l rebuild.

I have often wondered if the 2020 cam might be a better choice. It is made to increase H.P. in the lower ranges.

Seems a better choice for a daily driver.

The Crane made cam is almost what is used in the 3.4 engine.
It's a great choice

3000 ouch, how much HP you end up with??? a crate 3.4 is only 2000 165-175 hp some mods get 200 add 150 NOS shot and 350hp later tires are flyin off the rim

nope, thanks anyways, i want my 350, now. the $3000 was a little high of an estimate. That price contains a tranny rebuild also that happened this year. i am just tired of doing all of this work and spending lots of money and only getting halfway there on horsepower. i am going to put the 350 on the engine stand tomorrow if my dad lets me so that i can start taking it apart to begin the rebuild. if anyone knows of a place that i can buy a tranny for cheap or get a th350 case in the middle georgia area that would be great...
