Finished product-almost huge difference

I'll start off with 2 pics of before, even though I have muliples of this entire process from the time we started 2nd week of Jan. 03 until this afternoon, still have those little items to take care of, I was just concerned I'd have it ready for the track since season starts in May-these are just the old DOT slicks from last season, I'm getting 27x11.5x15 just before the season opens, these were good enough to work out the bugs with the new stuff I did this winter. Now I gotta change my sig. as much has/will be changed. Let me know what ya think. Now we're buyin a new house so the toy is "done" for now. Still waiting for my decal guy to cut my stuff so we can get them stuck on the rear glass and windshield-write off purposes and sponsorship money. Some of the pics have a orange tint to them, that's just the camera, I assure you it's all red!!!

These are not the goofy asssed taillight covers, or window tint, I think he mixed some black into some clear and shot the taillights. When the lights are on you can't even tell, pretty neat. Just wish I had my decals so it's not so plain jane.

Now to the short falling of this car-really wish we were'nt buying a new house but family first I guess since she let me waste all kinds of money on this project. I still need to repaint the inside here and do some other little things, but it still runs and hopefully will be as deadly consistent as last year.

I own a very small construction company and used this car to "hide" my money from uncle sam last year & this tax year. If it was'nt for hook -ups in the paint/body dept. and some really good people I met when buying the 4th gen interior from all over the country, I probably would've had alot more into it than I do, I'll just say I never look at the price on the reciepts until I add everything up at the end of the year, otherwise I'd probably admit myself into a looney bin-but my advertisement folder is already stuffed with reciepts from this project this year already. 28yrs btw.

also, your car is the first thirdgen w/ the 4th gen door panels. How did that fit? Even fatal88 doesn't have those door panels in.

Fatal88 does have 4th gen door panels, they just have camaro ones instead of firebird ones.

The interior sucked to install and I was lucky since this is just a toy; I got to strip all the guts and just use the shell for looks, Fatal88 put some super fab skills and much patience into his ride for the show quality end results he has, mines just a 1/4mi. beater that's a littler prettier than some. I'll never attempt a 4th gen install again even with no more than I did, and to any that try make sure your confident in your own fabbing skills and have a good place and arsenal of tools work with as it takes awhile to get it all to go into place-please don't ask for step by step-it's not perfect, but it's pretty damn good considering. I got lucky as hell with the door panels, cause when I put my cage in, I had used the old 3rd gen door panels and seats when positioning. Got super lucky when I decided to swap to the newer interior and the doors actually shut with the same amount of clearance I gave for the 3rd gen panels-should've bought a lottery ticket that day I think.

Actually, Fatal88's doors are not from a 4th gen. He used the 4th gen handles and switches, and mounted it on a thirdgen skin. He also fabbed up a speaker box to go with the look. If you even notice, he used the thirdgen door trim at the top.

IHI, that is some awesome work man. The 4th gen dash swap is in my future, so I am trying to do as much research on it as I can.

I attached a pic of his doors. I took this pic at the Houston thirdgen gathering in December.

IHI,
First off gorgeous car man!! I was wondering about how that 4th gen dash fit? Anything I need to know before installing one (as in fabbing or cutting)?
Thanx

I don't know the difference between camero 4th gens and Firebird dashes, the actual shell install was realitively easy since I had no HVAC to worry about or electronics, basically the only factory electronics left in the car are for the lights/turn signals all the rest is new. Check out this site, I used it for a base line then did what I thought would be better in some cases, but it's still an alright step by step I guess as I'll never get into doing that with my swap, I got much better things to do than write a step by step manual.

HITHERE never had power locks, and HITHERE did'nt want to add the weight by installing them, the windows are powered only on the drivers side as of right now, another member of this forum explained how to get the pass. side switch to work as well, it's just HITHERE matter of me finding time to rip back into it and rewire-the pass. side switch itself is internally wired different than the circuit that is installed into our car originally, so you got to cut/slice, etc.. to make it functional. My MAIN priority was to get it ready for the season, and now construction is starting to get me buried already so my toy time fiddlings are gonna be few and far between until next fall. Still want to know how all these HITHERE are getting in here.

Do you have HITHERE Hurst shifter with HITHERE B&M handle? Or is that HITHERE B&M? How did it line up with the 4th gen console ?

It's just a B&M ratchet shifter I took out of my parts car. As far as lining up with the new console, I now can see why they always recommend getting a manual console, mine was an automatic and lots of cutting, grinding had to be done in order for the shifter to get a full throw from park to Low 1, I want to get a new shifter just so it's new, plus I want a handle with the button in it for my burnout line lock, right now I just have my old button zip tied just under the handle and it works perfect, but is cosmetically bad. Once that's switched, over I'll put a leather boot around it so you can't look down and see the wiring/tunnel. Then I took out the "start in 2nd gear" button, took the guts out of the box that ran it, and installed my staging/stutterbox button-worked out pretty slick casue once I release the button my hand is already down there to slap the shifter when the light comes on.

Hell, the few guys that have come over to the shop during the transformation were all calling me ***** boy Oh well, let them flip me shiiit cause they're envious (I hope) Now I just gotta get the rearend hung (once the wife allows me to part with another 2K) and next winter build the new motor, so hopefully it'll run as fast as it looks-definately gonna get teased at the track this season for being the slowest of the group since everbody else dropped in big blocks over the winter, but they're still in primer on the outside and missing interiors-so who's the fool now?!.
The guy that did the hood said it would've cost me around $750 just for the hood if I would've had to pay to have it done, and he also said he would'nt want to do another one anytime soon. He spent quite awhile getting the "body lines" to blend together and flow to what I have now and I think it turned out pretty good, just ain't looking forward to reroofing his garage this spring, but I guess ya gotta pay one way or another. I'm still embarassed to scoot around town cause the rear slicks look so stupid being smaller than the front, but after driving around all last year the way it used to look, I guess I can deal with it until the season starts.

Beautiful car....really big transformation. 100% better, keep it up. This is a bit off topic, but I have an 82 and currently have the rims you use to have, and was wondering if you still have those around with the center caps. I only have two of those caps and I know those rims would look just a tad bit better with a full set of caps, until I can afford new rims all together. Are you willing to part with them and how much? =)

IHI, that is some awesome work man. The 4th gen dash swap is in my future, so I am trying to do as much research on it as I can.

I attached a pic of his doors. I took this pic at the Houston thirdgen gathering in December.
