Those w/ silvania silverstar lights...
i was at the local auto zone today and they told me they dont sell the sealed beam type for a firebird. just a conversion kit. but buying the kit would cost me more than getting just 2 sealed beams. anyone know where i can get the direct fit silverstars?

Odd. You have Checkers there? I got mine at Autozone, but saw Checkers had them for the same price.
Here's the catalog

[edit] I was trying to update my first post, but it disappeared. Anyhow the part numbers I got are from that catalog.

im goin to be gettin my headlights for my camaro at pepboys, since i work there, we just started to carry the silver stars and not all pepboys will carry them right away, one store might the other store might not. ill check on monday or tomarrow if we have the part number or if we even carry them for the firebirds. and for the guys with camaros the silver star headlights are 24.99 a piece
well i went to yet another auto zone today and they said the same thing. then went to advance but didn't see any silvanias on their shelves. thought i'd ask about 'em and one of the guys found 2 silverstars in the back, ready to be shipped back cuz lack of sales.
check 'em out. they're noticeably a lot brighter. will post another pic later when it's darker. i also decided to ditch the aftermarket foglights and bring back the factory look.

I wouldn't be surprised about lack of sales. Most people buy the cheapest light they can find.
Looks good

hehe. i went for a drive just now and the difference is night and day,,,literally
the lights are soooo friggin bright i doubt i'll ever need to use the high beams. definitely worth the money IMO!

Yep, I bought mine from advanced a few months ago and man are they better than mine old ones.. I can see... My old ones were dim in the first place then I got my ram air hood which blocks some of your view and I couldn't see s*** at night... now I can see great..

I got my silverstar head lights today at work and tonight when i went to get gas for the z, all i have to say for those lights are bad ***. now i gotta replace my hibeams to match and i also have to align the hi beams but the silverstars are great and look like those HID lights but cheaper.

dream what fogs are you runnin in there? they kinda look like those pilot or piaa aftermarket kind.... just curious because I actually went out and bought brand new fog light enclosures for my 90 and put in the 55 philips gold dichroic bulbs... and man they really suck, not very bright at all.... I mean they are bright to look at, but they really don't project well to the road... dunno why, guess I need 100w but then I need new wiring and new enclosure...

mmmm very nice sig borsty...
did you buy the straight-up sealed enclosure replacement, or the projection-style conversion kit?
I like the idea of getting the conversion kit and putting in some of those extra-high wattage bulbs.... then lowering the angle of the headlights to not blind people--while at the same time brightening the road like crazy.

man that would be amazing!
I don't see why they can't do that... make it an all-in-one package... you shouldn't have to buy all those different components to run your lights... you should simply have to provide power to a sealed hid unit that fits in there...

They dont do that cause it would be rediculously expensive... so then no one would buy it. If there having trouble selling silverstars for $25 a pop.. thats not exactly going to promp companies to make a kit thats alot better and ALOT more expensive.

can someone tell me what the big difference between xenon ballast, and flourecent is??? Why is one $400-$1000, and the other is $40??
I just went out and bought a $20 quad-filament flourecent-type flood lamp for my house... its only 65w total, and it looks to be much, much brighter than hid.... even a similar color...
I just can't figure out what is so special about hid, cept the part where I really want an anit-hid rear-view mirror...
or better yet... I bet there is nothing illegal about making your rear bumper a mirror... shine that crap back at them, that'll **** 'em off... muaahah, all I need is some mirror-spray or something...

I put sylverstars in my car right after I bought it. I drove the car for about 40 miles and the passenger side one blew. I took it back to the store and they gave me another one which I put in and it seems to be a little different color light than the other one and I dont know why, its really hard to notice but when I shine them both on a white building the left one looks bright white like the HIDs and the other is the same but with a slightly more yellow tint. I love the lights dont get me wrong but I was wondering if anyone else has experienced any problems with them like I did.

meridius... I have a feeling you accidentally installed the sylvannia XTRAVISION bulbs instead... (most likely that's what they gave you on accident/purpose)...
I have those in my car, and man I wish I had gotten the sylverstars instead... in fact, I'm gonna go get those today...

Lol no spotlights. Those are aftermarket foglights. See, I still wanted my foglights but I also wanted ram air, so I got those smaller lights so I can have both. The incoming air just goes around the small bulbs.

I know they are the sylverstars in face the boxes are still sitting on my shelf with the OEM bulbs in them for backups so I cna tell you for sure that they are both the same bulb unless one was boxed wrong . I dont even let it bother me anymore because nobody ever sees the difference in them even after I point it out to them so its just me being too picky about my car again as most people say.

Are these DOT legal?
I've been harrassed bout that before.
Anyone know if autozone carries the H4 silverstar bulb, or if they if they even make one, I have the Hella H4 non projector conversions for all four lights.

I put mine on one at a time (replacing a burnt out bulb), and from having it side by side with a regular wagner halogen, the improvement is unbeliveably noticeable.

If you are having trouble finding them, I got mine at O'Reilly's Auto Parts. They're big in the South.
Awesome headlights, I got the sealed units.
