Headlight Comparison: GE High-Output vs Silverstar Sealed Beam (Pictures)

I thought, considering all the interest in these Sylvannia Silverstars... I'd make a post devoted to showing the actual differences in them... These pictures show a very dramatic difference in light output...

Here are all the relevant part #'s:

Old Halogen's (GE High Output) - 1 year old
#H6054HO

New Silverstars (Sealed-Beam Unit)
#H6054ST

Fog Lights (New Enclosures off Ebay+Gold Dichroic 55w Bulbs)
#H3AW (http://www.autooptiks.com/matrix.html)

Just in case you don't know, the fog lights are gold-dichroic... which gives them a very yellow output... and supposedly helps during rainy weather---I've not been able to see any difference... I just think they look pretty cool because they kinda "flicker" like HID bulbs, due to the Xenon gas inside.... plus they are bright to look at, so I use them during the day as driving lights...

Here are all the links to the pictures, but I'll post the 3 most important pictures directly to the board...

Most people take pictures during the night, but I feel you can tell better during the day, due to the way cameras adjust their contrast at night...

Good Picture of just how yellow the fog lights are

Good Comparison shot...

I'd also like to point out that many people have told me that there is not much difference in the sealed-beams versus the h4 conversions -- using the silverstars...

plus take this into account.... the h4 bulbs are the SAME PRICE as these sealed beam enclosures... so if a rock hits this you can just replace it... instead of the $40 conversion kit AND the bulb... just some info...

i got my silver stars for my low beams about 5 months ago and they are incredible! Real nice clear white colored light. Big difference over standard $5 halogens. LOL A must upgrade for all sports car owners.

Looking good! Any night shots? I havent taken any pics of mine. Cant wait to get high beams on some time!!

I agree, the silverstar sealed beams may be expensive, but its alot less hassle than the conversion. All those stories of the puke brown that people can't get rid of. Also, if I were to do a conversion, I would want HID, and HID is intended to be used with a projector lense... which would be another thing that has to be custom fabricated for our cars.

I've had my silverstars since they first came out in our sealed beam part #'s, and I love them.

here are some more pictures... but like I said before the daylight pictures give you the right contrast to see the biggest difference...

Good picture showing the light difference on the wall--I guess I should have found a white wall... but what can you do?
http://www.m2stream.com/scrapmaker/P...4092811653.jpg

Another wall picture... look at how far the light pattern goes to the left, but the right is much narrower...-- the silverstars definitely have a much better light pattern..

Dang this one looks freaky!
http://www.m2stream.com/scrapmaker/P...4092885125.jpg

Same wall with ONLY foglights...

Both brand new Silverstars together for the first time!

Good shot of how "sharp" the light pattern is.. you can see a definite line on the ground where the light starts focusing...

Yeah but you're comparing apples and oranges (kinda) comaro vs firebird... it's all good really..... I mostly wanted to show that daytime picture comparison.... in my opinion you can see the biggest difference there.
