Sylvania SilverStars!!!

Just put them in a week ago and have been flashed 3 times by oncoming traffic. These bad boys are brighter than my stock high beams on a score of 1-10 they rate a 10 in book. If you want the look of HID but for new wires and bulbs, thats alot of money, just spend 50 bux and get these. Difference is like night and day.

Why do people feel the need to get headlights that blind the crap out of other poeple. Theres a reason why your not supposed to drive with your brights on.

So the solution is to buy lights that are as bright as brights? What are the bright settings like on those things? Midday sun?

If you put these lights in a Camaro, what lights could you put in the highbeam position that'd make the highbeams and brighter than the lowbeams? Like it was said, if you just needed really bright lights, you could just drive with the highbeams on all the time.

oh they make ones for the high beams to, so it'll be brighter than the sun!!! look at any new car, wether it be lexus, bmw, or even toyota, they are all starting to switch the light patterns up to brighter and whiter, the other old bulbs, in my own opion, suck a$$, these give me a better view, and a faster reaction time, especially on long trips...

got my silverstars put in today and they are great, and noticed my high beams suck (and out of alignment) so those will be replaced with the silver stars also. i have trouble seein at night even with new glasses and with that crizal stuff, these headlights are a night and day difference. its worth the 50bucks and hell for $100 you can change all 4

Well I have a Firebird/Trans-AM so I don't have a seperate headlight unit. All I have is one sealed unit.

I just bought all 4 lights for my 91 maro from Advanced Auto yesterday and installed them, worth the $100 bucks if you ask me. They provide much better lighting and the whhite instead of yellowed color is very nice looking and makes the car look less old. The brights are like having your own personal stadium lghting mounted on the front and have a great feild of lighting showing deer, ect on the side of the road. I did have trouble finding them in the Austin, Tx area on the other hand, Pepboys had 1 and O'Reillys said they shipped theirs back due to no sales, Advanced on the other hand had all 4 of them right on the shelf. and for you guys calling around the Sylvania part numbers are 4651 (hi) and 4656 (lo) (I think the letters on the end of the part number are ST, but i dont have them with me), and make sure to ask for SilverStar because their normal lights use the same numbers

I love my silver stars... they aren't as great as these newer car's headlights, but they're DAMN good for a direct sealed beam replacement lamp.

ProjectMayhem and 87WS6, i am really ashamed to know that you guys are senior and junior members on here. Brighter bulbs that are of a different light spectrum, do not blind people. With some proper headlight aiming they merely inhance night vision, especially for those of us that liketo drive our cars like GM intended. As for the high beams, maybe you should do your homework before you say something. Sylvania makes it's silver stars in both a low and high beam voltage. 9006 is low and 9005 is high, i believe. And project mayhem, you don't use your high beams all the time, just when you need to see far, not only are they brighter, but they are aimed higher, thus the name "high beam", to see further down the road. And considering they are DOT approved, there fine.

I got em on my Formula. For the money they provide a simple/stupid upgrade.

They are simple to plug in and provide excelent performance.

You are stupid to pass up a deal that is such a good bang for the buck.

I just installed a pair tonight on my '91 'bird. It looked "cleaner" but it wasn't as impressive as I was expecting it to be. It wasn't extremely noticable over a fairly new GE halogen. I had an older sylvannia halogen on one side, it was more noticable on that side with the silverstars.

It certainly takes away any of the yellowish light, it does look cleaner, and a little "sharper" but I'll have to drive it around more to be sure. It's been drizzling here nonstop so I can't be certain.

I still have the factory wiring & harness, which probably doesn't let the silverstars reach full potential, but if you've got clean regular halogens already, I don't think it's a very large improvement. However, I'll do more tests this weekend.

Also, I did snap a few quick pics but at bad angles and with a crappy camera. I'll check them now, if there are any good shots I'll post it.

Laters,
Scott

Yet another vote in favor of SilverStars. Put 4 on my 92 RS last night. OMG!!! Put the the left side in and left the right side stock, it was like I didn't have bulbs in the right side. Are adjusted correctly so no blinding other drivers. My low beams are now much brighter than my high beams were before. Not quite as bright as my buddy's new Lexus G35, but close.

Put mine on, went to friends shop and aimed them. Drove home at night and was flashed four times. They are BRIGHT. I've even adjusted them down a few turns and still have been flashed by oncoming traffic. Not to be a dick about it, I just hit them back with the high beam to show I'm on the low beam. Now making a relay harness to get the most out of them. One of the best bangs for the buck up-grade.
