that pic, here's what you see....

--my homemade console lid (vinyl w/ hand stitched flames)
--wheelskins steering wheel leather wrap
--guage "bezels" color keyed to match exterior
--embroidered floormats
--leather wrapped shift **** (from a boneyard Saturn)
--door panel (the top section of material replaced with black vinyl)...i think since it lines up perfectly with the black dash, perhaps the designers of the car meant for a wrap around look here

what you can't see....
--radio from a 98 firebird
--map pocket gone, panel wrapped with same vinyl as door panel sections in its place.

oh yeah , forgot the cheapie pedals.

i'm not crazy about the steering wheel either, but i was 17 when did that, and i needed to keep the airbag for insurance.

here's a better pic of the guages....

I like the pedals, I have the same ones . I love the door panels. Looks awesome, but doesn't stand out. Not many would notice it.

and here is a head on shot of the "g ay, off" steering wheel. i think it looks decent from this view, definitely better than a lot i've seen. as for getting a grant or any aftermarket wheel, for that matter, i will not. only money i will keep putting in this car is maintenance and repair.

What are those door panels from? My 87 Formula has the exact same door panels but my friends 89 formulas (3 of em) have different panels. I always just thought mine where different? Did they change door panels on a certain year? Cause I like my 87's better than my friends 89's. What gives? I know one of you all know.

I actually like the steering wheel. I think it adds a nice touch to an otherwise hideous wheel.

What year is the car? I know that the wheel is a 90-92 wheel, but the interior/dash.... Firebirds confuse me.

check in the history section....

i don't know exactly what options brought about different pannels however i know there are several variations for door pannel choices between the years and styles.

Only maintenane and repairs? Are you one of those easily frustrated thirdgen owners? I think we've all been there. Don't be discouraged, I'd hate to see another clean bird go to waste.

If I were you, I'd redo all the carpeting to be a darker color (dark grey or black) and the change the steeringwheel. After that you would have an excelent interior. That steering wheel is seriously terrible IMO. I really like the bezels matching the exterior by the way.

i definitly like your work on the door panels. i guess i'd have to see a different view of that console lid cover to give an opinion.... oh, about the steering wheel... i think it would fit in better if your seats were upholstered to match it. not too crazy about the painted rings around the gauges... doesnt really look like it was meant to be done (when i say meant to be done, i mean like the door panels). well, you've got my 2 cents!

uhmmm little backround, probably starting 88 or so up (positive about camaro not so positive about firebird) base line interior had base seats, no carper on sides of console, no carpet on the plastic pieces near your feet on the sides and vinal on the door panes with horizontal stripes on it
Custom cloth had different cloth ("custom cloth") on the seats which had a different pattern, carpet on sides of console, and sides near you feet, with custom cloth door panels and a horizontal strip of vinal going through it
Leather had the same type seats just in leather with carpet in the same places and vinal instead of custom cloth on the door panels.
Bose system in the rear had carpet on the plastic pieces in rear and a fold down cover for the hatch with speaker
I'm sure I'm missing a ton of stuff but thats just a basic overview for ya....

I know this thread is a little old but I'm wondering if the "wheelskin" you went with was the size they recommended for your year or if you gave them a custom measurement? Our wheels have those buldges at "10 and 2" and I was just curious if the cover stretched enough or if it left a gap. I measured the wheel like they want for a custom size and my measurements came up a little big for what they recommend. Thanks
