I read the article to and it is still missleading. They claim that is can take 400 to the wheels without putting it into jepordy. However, what do they mean by that? If that with slicks or just street tires? Many stock 10 bolts will go way beyond that limit. Then againt there are some that blow when combined with slicks with only half their advertised power rating. They spend around a grand for that rear and for a little more you could have something that is gauranteed bullitproof with pratically any power and tire combo.

About 3 years ago CHP and HR had articles on a firebird running 10s on a 10 bolt rear end pushing 600 hp and 570 foot pounds or somthing like that. Its been a long time since i have read the article so i forget what the whole deal was but it was the factory 10 bolt case in the car.

They didn't say much our very own tech article didn't say https://www.thirdgen.org/newdesign/t...nguprear.shtml , cap studs is the only thing that comes to mind (and they didn't say anything about that in the on-line version).

They didn't say anything about welding around the tubes.

They didn't say anything about using a solid bearing spacer instead of a crush sleeve.

Id like to have the 9 inch or 12 bolt .How much more will that cost me?From what Ive seen advertised starting at $1600 on up.Dont think that includes the brake setup.Maybe someone can chime in on the cost.

when i built my nine inch i sent it out for what ever i couldn't do in house tube shortening and the press work. and it ran me around 900 for all the parts and labor to make it work. I also cheaped out on a few things like i bought used axels and ring and pinion. I set my car up with willwood rear brakes.
