code 22 help!!!
Code 22 came up today and my car won't stay running without me giving it gas. The TPS is brand new and adjusted and the trouble codes have been reset but the code comes back up when i start the car. What should i do now?

Maybe the connector is not making good contact. Any one of the three connections would not allow proper signal to be put to the ECM. I'd start there and work back to the ECM connections for the +5V, signal input and ground.

how exactly am i supposed to check all the connections? I need a step by step instruction on how to do this. pictures would be nice too. I have a DVM.

I don't have pictures but with a meter is should be easy.
The TPS has 3 connections:
A = Ground (return)
B= Output voltage Should be 0.4 to 0.57 at idle, 4.7 to 4.9 at full.
C = +5 volts supply
1.) Check the ground connection by putting your meter on the Ohms setting. Touch the two leads together to ensure your leads are good. The reading should peg or show very little resistance.
Place one probe into the A connection of the harness and touch the engine block with the other.
A reading of 0.7 ohms or less would be great. More than that or an infinite reading indicates the grounding path is not connecting.
You'll need to check why. On 730 SD setup it goes to pin "B6" and joins with the ground for the Manifold Air Temp sensor.
2.) Check the supply voltage to the "C" connector.
Turn the key on but don't start the engine. Place the meter on DC Volts range. Touch the Red lead into the C connection and touch the black lead to the engine block.
You should get +5 volts. If not you'll need to see why. On the ECM it comes from pin "A5"
If both of those readings are working correctly then go on to #3.
3.)Reading the output is a little more difficult because the connector must be plugged in.
Plug it in, turn the key on but don't start.
Stick the red lead into the connector (or strip a little back to get to the wire)
You should read the voltage as stated above when at the idle position and stroking to full throttle.
The output of this goes to pin "F13" at the ECM.
I hope this lets you find the problem.
Edit: The ECM pins are from my 91-92 setup, your may be different. Check a schematic if you need to go to the ECM side of things.

If you replaced the TPS, How did you adjust it if you say you can't get to the input?
It needs to be adjusted with a voltmeter or scantool.

problem found
thanks but i know how to adjust it what i didn't know how to do is diagnos what wire is bad and where it connects back to the ECM. However I found out yesterday that the TPS was way out of adustment. I had previously set it wrong and for some reason it took this long for it to really become undrivable. It was set at .054 rather than .54. I can't believe it even ran. But i got it fixed and she's running good thanks for all the help. She goes into hibernation this weekend for the long cold winter.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

Glad to see you got it fixed, Give it one last blast for the year anyway then put it away.
I'm hoping to get another nice day to do the same
(one more... just one more...)
