Ah, mr no hood boy chopping the exhaust off to save weight now Why not just take everything off the car that doesn't interfere with the ability to drive it. Fenders, doors, all the glass and so on.

heck, my car may not look all that nice, but at least it is tasteful. i had a crappy base to start my car on, beat up old v6 car that reeked of cigarettes. now, i have a car that needs paint and the rest of the interior to get here, but the main parts of the car are solid. car ran a 13.75@100mph on 87 octane fuel, not many 305 guys can claim that!

personally, i think that not running an exhaust is silly. i can understand not having money, i have less than $3000 in my WHOLE car, but it works well.

 

Nasty IS A GOOD THING, just like "sick and ill" ......Oh well I guess we're on different wave legnths here....im 20 years old and grew up in Boston....It's just slang for "cool'....old timer.

close minded?.....NO....just dont think that cutting off your exhaust and taking off your hood are weight saving good ideas...LOL..now if you were to buy lexan for your windows and gutted the interior and bought a fiberglass hood and stripped the ground effects and ran a built engine then i dont think people would give you as much grief but since your running a basicly stock L03 and taking off peices you need to be leagal in most areas..such as exhaust and a hood and so on ...thats why your catching so much crap over it ...

i personally dont care for the sound of a car with a y-pipe and no muffler exiting right there...it sounds like it needs exhaust on it ...but its your car so go for it just dont expect others to think its "cool" or "nasty"...LOL

and telling a fellow member that he is talking out his *** and that he looks stupid isnt going to win you any brownie points around here for help later on ....just a little thought you might want to keep tucked away in the back of your mind....

i probably have one of the better sounding 305's(and probably in the top 20 fastest n/a 305's too) on the board, but that's cause i have hedman longtube headers>h-pipe>dual summit racing chambered mufflers.

want to race another 305? bring it on man.

Hey General, I just thought I'd show my pipes, if you can't agree that the basic principals of saving weight, reducing back-pressure and costing nothing are at work here then I don't get you. You are just too smart for me. Look I should clear this up, The car is not my daily driver anymore, it's a track only car now. I have a motorcycle to ride in my traffic conjested town. Anyway I'm just having fun with my car, and not taking stuff so seriously. When I get enough $$$ to build a sweet motor, then I will. But for now I'm looking at every aspect of FREE performance I can get. Trying to do all the little things that bug me, before I start spending the green.

Ya It's just more functional. The sound does not bother me too much.

1. cuttin off your exhaust and leaving the manifolds on it isnt more than what 2 hp gain...

2. i guess so .....

3. that makes more sense than trying to drive it on the street ..you should really post these things in your original post instead of attacking everyone that doubts your "perfomance mods"

4. nothing wrong with that just dont get so jumpy when someone doesnt like your idea of weight saving especially when you didnt post that you are not driving this on the street..

Look General, I respect your knowledge of third gen's and I'm sick of defending my methods. I know they make a differance, small as it may be. But it all adds up. Sorry I was not more specific.

WOW thats great u just made an L03 even slower i think i gotta do that to my car, my headers and full exuast weighs to much

 

I like my "nasty" car Only external changes I've made is the 3 inch Harwood cowl hood plus it's not the factory silver and charcoal any more. Oh and the center caps are gone but not because of weight savings

You lost a bunch of backpressure building torque, sure you got rid of any flow restriction, only you dont have a motor that will benefit from it.
