All Hou. Area Thirdgenners--July Monthly Meet--Please Read!!!
JULY MONTHLY MEET--HOOTER'S--SATURDAY--JULY 9TH @ 4 PM !!!
http://hooters.Know-Where.com/hooter...e=060&address=
Make plans NOW to Attend!
We have a BUNCH on new members to the board, that we all hope will make it out to the monthly.
There are also a bunch of members that have not made it to any of the monthlys since we got them "organized" that did not make the Summer Meet either.
It would really be cool if we could ALL get together and make this a real BIG "BLOW OUT" monthly meet.
Let's see now--Hooter's-- Thirdgens-- Food-- Hooter's-- Beer--Hooter's--Mass Cruise-- Hooter's-- Woodlands Car Club Sat. night car show-- Hooter's!
SOUND GOOD TO ME!!!
Per the guidelines for the monthlys, that we all agreed on a few months ago, The "official" monthly meet is from 4PM to 6/7 PM.
Sonar said the Woodlands Car Show has been relocated to 45N + Cypresswood, a couple exits down the freeway from Hooter's. After going to their web site and looking around, that looks to be the case, although I am still trying to confirm the information on the web site.
EDIT:
NOW CONFIRMED!!!
http://www.thewoodlandscarclub.com/
Click on the link at top left of home page for map location for "Sat night cruse in"
Originally I had planned on going to HMP afterwards, but since the drag strip is closed, I think going to the Woodlands Car Show is the thing to do. So, if anybody wants to go on a Mass Cruise to the car show after the monthly meet, and hang out there for a couple hours--LET'S DO IT!!!

Well, U can forget about the mass cruise to HMP drag strip. They have a big circle track show that night and the drag strip will not be open!

Reply from one of the Woodlands Car Club about the Sat night show:
Hi Craig,
Yes, we`re now meeting at the cruz-n-cafe located on_cypresswood and I-45. One block east of I-45 across from Spring High School. The summer months hours are from 7:00 pm till 10:00pm.
This is a new location for us, and we`re letting it grow slowly. Lookin forward to seeing all of you on Sat.

If anyone's interested, the SCCA SW Solo II Divisional Series event number 2 will be held at Gulf Grayhound Park that weekend too. Anyone is allowed to come in, sign the waiver and watch. Can't say autocrossing is much a spectator sport, but most the people are real friendly and you get a chance to see some pretty cool cars go fast. Who knows, some of you guys might want to come out to the next event and give it a shot!
http://www.houscca.com/solo2/divisional/index.aspx
First car out at 9am Saturday, 830am Sunday. Depending on number of cars and runs, it can last until 3-4 or so.
It's kinda a far drive from the N. Houston Hooters, so I won't be making the trek up after the autocross, plus I won't even have my car there. Wish I remembered about this event being on that weekend earlier and persuaded this months meet to be in SE Houston

Another reply from one of the Woodlands Car Club officers:
Cruzn Cafe is I-45 S. at the Holzwarth exit I believe. Then turn right - behind Sonic and Burger King in the small strip center on the right. The address is: 19790 I-45, Spring, TX 77373 - 281.350.2905. I believe this is just a temporary location for now. Abe from the cafe has welcomed us there until we find a larger location. Hope to see you and your club soon.
Take care,
Dana

There has been very little response on the board here in this thread as to who is planning on going or not, but I know that through comments made in other threads or PM's, that there seems to be a bunch of people planning on going.
If everybody shows that says they are gonna go (which usually does not happen because of last minute things that come up), there should be low to mid teens car count.
I'll start a separate thread for the guesses and see if everybody wants to put up a buck in the pot. Probably start a head count thread thread also.
Since I probably have an advantage in knowing how many MIGHT show up, I will refrain from posting my guess until later.

Please post on the headcount thread at the above link if U are or are not planning to attend, so we can get a better idea of how large an area to get when we first get to Hooter's.
Thanks,

Hi Guy's,
It looks like I'll be there but without the car. Have been battling with an idle problem for a while. Have changed and replaced everything but it still hasn't gone away.Replaced fuel filter, ignition leads, plugs, spark control,MAP,Ignition module, coil, rebuilt TBI with new injectors and gaskets, checked all vacuum lines etc. Have a miss thats been getting worse.
Now I've started my new job I don't have time to fix it and so going to put it in the shop tomorrow. Anyone recommend someone in the Clearlake/Webster area who won't rip me off?
I have one guy recommended to me on Preston in Pasadena.

Its gradually been getting worse. Havent used the car this week at all. When I do drive it I have to use both feet, one on the brake and the other feathering the gas otherwise it will stall. Forgot to mention also replace the IAC valve. I need to get the car in as I'll need it for work the end of next week. Have been using the wifes truck this week. Have an 80 mile round trip to work.

Well, I think Sue summed it up best when she said. "Even though not a whole lot of people/cars showed up, it seemed like everybody REALLY enjoyed themselves!"
I would have to agree.
6 thirdgens--9 car owners at Hooter's--1bad91Z showed up at the Woodlands car show.
WHAT HAPPENED TO EVERYBODY THAT SAID THEY WERE GOING TO SHOW UP???
Hooter's was about like always--OK food--excellent scenery (depending on your point of view!)--the BIG screen TV right next to us with the drag racing going on, didn't hurt any either!
We got to the Woodlands Sat night cruise-in a little early, but we were welcomed with open arms, by one of the club officials that even was helping us get parked, due to the limited space at their new temporary locaion. They definately need a bigger spot. There was about 50 cars there throughout the night--a few coming and going. We pretty much closed it down. Some very cool cars showed up!
Did everybody see the HOT PINK thirdgen Camaro on the way out of the Hooter's parking lot?
Definately different!
Thanks to the camera phones of Michael and Eric (20N!N + ESC) we got some pics. Seems as everybody forgot the cameras (including me). Stephan (Sonar) stopped by his house and got his on the way to the car show. Hope to see his pics and Michael's as soon as they get to post them. Especially the close-up of the Hooter's ...uh...Hooter's girls!
With the exception of ZAP89 and me... it was all different people from the May monthly, and again, with the exception of Barry and Aldixie and wife Jean, it was all different people from the Summer meet last month.
If we could ever get everybody together all at once, plus all the people that have not made it to ANY of the meets lately, we would have a really BIG crowd. Maybe the "Fall Brawl" drag racing meet or the annual BIG Winter meet, we can make a concentrated effort to all make it at the same time and get a car count in the mid 30's like we did at the 2003 winter annual meet!
Per the guidelines we set up for the Monthly Meets, (unless we hear of some kind of special event that we want to tie the monthly in with) the August monthly will be the second Sat next month (August 13th)--4 to 6/7 pm, and in keeping with the policy of rotating it around town, it will be somewhere on the west side of Hou. Keep an eye out for a good location on the west side for the Aug monthly, and I will start a new thread for that in a few days.
Since we usually go do somthing as a group after the monthly meet, going to the Sam's Club Sat night show is a natural choice, but if anybody knows of anything else going on, or if U have ANY suggestions for afterwards OR for a location for the actual monthly meet, PLEASE speak up!

CRAP---We forgot all about the flyers!!!
Somehow we need to hook up and get some of those flyers and get them out into the hands of the Hou area members, to continue passing them out.

I have the utmost respect for anybody who's car broke down and still gos out of their way to make the monthly. Most people would just blow it off.........only someone that is really totally dedicated to this thirdgen deal would bother to come in that situation!!!!!!

Hi Guy's,
It was nice to meet up with you all again and meet new faces, even if I was without my car. Took the car into the shop today, no news yet.
Didn't take long to get back to Clearlake just under an hour. Went out yesterday to salvage yard to get purge solenoid just in case that would solve my problem. It didn't but thanks for the idea Zap89.
While in the yard spotted a newly arrived 91 RS, all panels were good apart from passenger fender. Still has all the 91/92 GFX's. They had a couple of cracks but nothing that couldn't be fixed. Front chin spoiler was in very good condition with hardly any rub through.Would just need sanding and painting.
I may be back in the yard next week as there was also a 78 firebird that I need some brakes and rear end off of for my belair project. So if anyone's interested and its still there I can get it.
Alex
