Made a CAI.....any questions??

Its 3.5in exhaust tubing to a 9in K&N cone filter. I brazed the tubing together, bondo'd the seems and painted it with engine paint!!! Its installed into a Camaro so I had to relocate the battery to the drivers side.

Evap can is long gone as well as the cruise. That is a 4in to 3.5in hump hose you can get online at www.airflowonline.com

Did you cut out the battery tray?
Did you remove plastic shield under it?
Are you going to box the filter in to keep hot engine bay air out of it?
Or, is the air comimg around the headlights enough?

Looks just as good as aftermarket stuff I have seen. Yet your probably cost a lot less. Good work.

I believe the air comming around the headlights and up into the fenders is enough. I am going to box in the filter tho.....

my air intake looks almost like this. i built mine out of 3.5 exhaust tubing about 3 years ago. the biggest differance between ours is that i cut a hole below where your filter is mounted and routed my tubing thruogh this hole and down behind where the fog light used to be(its on a gta). i dont really drive alot in the rain, so it does not affect me too much. vern, you can buy the tubing from Smileys over on peachtree road in balch springs. the usually carry a varity of 45 and 90 degree bends, most of which are around $17-19 each. i used 2 90 degree bends. as for the coupling to the throttle body, the cary a 4inch(the outside diameter of the tb) to 3.5 inch metal adapter. then you just have to form it around the tb, and get a good silicon reinforced coupler. the peice that he used to attach the air intake to the tb will start to deteriorate in a year or so, so spend a little money and get some good conectors.

Thanks, Veja. I've got one of the LT1 bellows I'm planning to use for that part. I was hoping to hear there was some pre-formed part out of a known exhaust system that could be picked up and cut down to our required length. I may try to find a local shop where I can get some parts to dummy up one so I can know what I need to get to make it work. I've also thought about using PVC to make the dummy kit/pattern for fit testing as well....

Yes, very nice. It should work quite well. One thing you might want to consider is partitioning the filter away from the heat of the engine. Let it draw cold air in from the front of the car and the passenger fender well.

<--mandrel bends also. i say it will detiriorate in a year or so because mine did. i once had the same piece on my car. they do great if they are not subjected to twisting forces, but being that the engine will twist when throttle is applied, twisting of the bellows is enevitable.
