Iron Duke Fbody Roll Call

I've been browsing these boards for a few years and I've seen an increasing number of Iron Duke Fbody owners.

If you wouldn't mind, chime in if you own one of these little gems and post pictures of any mods/fabrication/appearance upgrades you may have done. I'd like to actually see how many different Iron Duke Fbody owners browse this site...camaro or firebird.

If you have a friend of a friend who owns one....get them to these boards!

please don't post in here if you plan on bashing the Duke. We all know they are grossly underpowered compared to your V8's.

My mods are pretty much under the skin...Im running WS6 wheels/swaybars/poly end links. 4th gen firebird seats.

Plans for the future are new wheels a two tone black and red paint job and a power bulge hood.

billsfirebird present and accounted for:

There's a V6 board on TGO... why not an Iron Duke board? As underpowered as we all know these cars are, I really think they're kind of cool. They're almost like a sleeper, only the opposite.

Here are a couple pics I took of an Iron Duke Firebird at Carlisle. This amazing car had under 10,000 miles on it!

I've seen pictures of that car before. To me that is the ultimate Iron Duke bird! It's awsome to see one in that good of shape. That is my favorite options on an early bird...turbo hub caps, PMD seats, and other options.....

ANYONE notice that my A/C and alternator are on opposite sides of the gold one??? I wonder why/when they swapped them over???

Also my air intake tube is different, and obviously my engine isn't blue.

I've been thinking about that type of mod for a few years now. I haven't had the time or resources to accomplish it though. With my wife and I having our first baby on the way, it probably will still remain a thought.

A turbo on the ole duke would be cool to see, but i wouldnt want to own one. Why dump all that cash into a forced 4cyl if you can drop a sbc in it for cheaper and accomplish the same / more hp with less stress on the engine and its parts?

Just an opinion.

I agree, my take on it would be to throw a used turbo from a pull a part and get some help fabbing some ducting for it. I wasn't planning on running much boost anyway. I know my motor, given it's age, probably wouldn't put up with much HP gain.

not to worry, i too once drove with a TBI that was almost as slow as my grand am... Just do what i did, drop a performer TBI manifold on from edelbrock (#3704) ad an open element air cleaner, mine is a ten inch with a 2 inch wide K&N element, and a 180 * stat and that will pep it up a lot, hell mine does burnouts now and pretty soon im gonna run it down at the track to get an offical timeslip...

Those wheels weren't stock in 82 were they? Mine originally came with steel wheels and hubcaps...according to my RPO.

Mine was also a 4 speed originally. It's got a 5 speed from an 83 bird.

got any pics of the motor?

Here is my 82 Camaro with the duke. My car is all stock with the exception of the rear wing. I have toyed around with the idea of installing headers but haven't had much luck locating any. I dont even know if they exist. Great cars guys.

Thanks for posting,

I've been on the lookout for an ehaust header too. I've heard of some Duke Fieros haveing them but I'm uncertain if they'll work on ours.
