New exhaust is in! Pics inside
Well i finally got my new dynomax cat back welded in today. Its a 3" system (p/n 44063 and 43248) with an ultraflow muffler (p/n 17227) and a 3" catco cat. Its great. Has a nice mellow sound and it barks when you get on it. Total cost including installation was about $400. The tips are chrome z28 tips i found on ebay.

Hey guys,
My digital camera is acting up on me right now. Once i get it fixed I will post more pics of the exhaust underneath the car. I can tell this: it routes EXACTLY the same. The only modifications that the exhaust shop performed was cutting off the flange connections on the new intermediate pipe and i believe the y-pipe so they could connect the universal 3" catco cat. I didn't feel like shelling out the extra $70 for a direct-fit cat and it didn't cost anymore to have them modify the exhaust, not to mention a few less (potential) exhaust leaks to worry about. Because of that, the installation was only $100.

I heard that those tips are designed to use tail pipes that are off center...so they probably are off center, but only because his tails are on center. IMO, if yer gonna use those tips, just cut some off of one of the tailpipes.

Some day I plan on those tips for my own 3rd gen. In my opinion they are the best looking and most appropriate styled tips for a 3rd gen

Tas,
What exactly did the shop do? For example, did they work on both tail pipes or just a single to achieve the correct effect? Any problem with the tail pipe hanger(s)? Any info would be appreciated. I'd like to do it right the first time, so I'm banking on your experience.

well with mine I had the rear pipes and tips off a '99z28. First they just put the pipes with the tips on a flowmaster. I looked good up on the stand but I noticed they were too far back behind the muffler when I got home. I told them to put them almost to the end of the bumper and have 2 fingers width away from the bumper. Since the guy was wearing gloves I should have told him one finger. Anyway, they added some pipe to the end of the stock z pipe and did them up. The left one wasn't parllel with the bumper so I had him redo it the next day. I like it a lot but now the black is fading. I might try to armor all them or repaint them or something.

How the hell is you exhaust routed along the drivers side (left side) of the car in your pic! Is that an Aussie thirdgen? Almost all thirgens have exhaust down the right side. Please, help my confusion.
I want to know the same thing> how in the world is on the drivers side? i just got my dynomax cat back in today and hope to install it this sunday... other than how is it on the drivers side. hows the exhuast.. sound mean or what?

Yo the digital camera was oriented upside down when i took that picture from underneath. I flipped the image around 180 but that didn't totally fix it. Surely you would notice the curb about a foot or so away from the pipe in the picture. And i park on the right side of the street, so..........

I'd love too but......how would you post the sound clip? I have a little recorder and i could transfer the sound file onto the computer memory but the rest is a mystery to me.

Perhaps you can enlighten me......

once you get it on the computer you can put it on a website using the space your internet service provider gives you or by getting a free webpage from www.tripod.com or some other company. You can save it as a MP3 and then people can download it or open it directly from the website.
