WARNING: Problem with Vendor
Okay guys, I ordered a set of high-dollar pistons form a place in North Carolina called Doug Herbert Performance. They had a great price on them but here is what I've encounterd so far. The website had them listed at $27.99 each, but they charged me $29.99 each. They explained that the website had not been updated yet. That is false advertisment, so technically they should have sold them to me at the old price. I was willing to let that go though and be understanding, cause it was still a good price compared to other places.
Now here is the big issue: They arrived packed very well, but when I opened them, 3 of 8 had nicks and dings in them, even on the edges of the ring grooves! I got them in on saturday feb. 23, and I called them 1st thing this morning(monday). I was placed on hold, then sent to some guy's voice mail(I assume the manager?). I left him a message to call me back to clear this up. We will see what happens, and I will keep you guys posted. If they stiff me, I want be able to warn you guys too, and I want to have an e-mail campaign from our members to explaing to them why they will lose business from treating thirdgeners this way. DO NOT ACT YET! I will wait to see if they clear it up, and if they do, then I will give them a good recommendation, but it looks shady at the moment. Thanks guys!
P.S. If someone lives in or near Cherryville, NC e-mail me, I may need you to go by there and box check the new ones for damage, if they do the right thing and send replacements.

UPDATE#1
The guy called me back, he says they have to order in the pistons specially, cause they are out of them now. He told me to ship the damaged ones back, and he will ship me the good ones ASAP, and credit me for the shipping charges. We will see what happens, the whole process will be 2 weeks I bet. I will post an update as I have one. If they are good then I will recommend them cause they are cheap too!

I have a friend who used to work on Doug Herberts top fuel car and I have meet him several times, he is a great guy so I would be very surprised if his shop didn't take care of the problem..
Update: back to the top>>>>>
I did receive the new replacement pistons(one of which was also nicked a bit, but I will live with it). But here is where we are at now: I was told that they would send a UPS call tag with my replacemnent pistons so I'd be out no shipping charges to send the damaged ones back. I received the new ones, and I was billed for them, as well as another handling fee, plus no call tag showed up! I called back, and was assured that they would send one, but it never came, so I mailed them out back to Doug Herbert on March 26th at a cost to me of about 15 bucks. I included a copy of both invoices and a copy of the shipping receipt with a total amount to be be refunded of $112.72 circled on the second invoice. It has been 9 days and I have heard nothing and receive nothing. I have attempted to contact my salesman twice and left two messages on his voice mail, but have received no reply. It doesn't look good at the moment, I'm willing to wait for a credit to go through, but I need some assurance that they will do so. When I talk with anyone else but my saleman, they kindly tell me to hold, then shoot me over to his voicemail!!! I will keep you guys posted, hopefully it will work out. If not I will fly there an confront them face to face. I may never give anyone else on the internet my business if I get screwed, because it is too shady to do business through the internet. I work for a parts place and get get anything I want, but I went to Doug Herbert because they had a good price(still charged me more than posted on the website though), and had the pistons instock. I will let you guys know ASAP!!!!

If this really has been going on for over a month now, I'd contact your credit card company and explain the situation to them. Ask that they put the disputed charges on hold, and that will get you some leverage with DH.
I've not heard bad things about them before, but this is a CYA maneuver.

I contacted their biling fraud and investigations bureau. They told me that Doug Herbert had better reimburse me what they owe me because it was illegal what they did. They charged the other three pistons and another handling fee to my credit car without my conscent. They should have sent them and a call tag without billing me, and given me the opportunity to send the damaged ones back first or at least informed me that they were going to bill me again. I'm sure they will make good for me, but if not, I'll go the distance. I'll keep you posted for all those people who are interested in threads like this.
Hell go straight to the BBB and your states attourney generals office. Then call your CC company. I give companies 7 days(One week-5 business days) THATS IT. It has paid off more then once. They get scared $hitless when a formal letter from the States second in charge DA arrives saying they will be investigating you for fraud!...BTW My sister in law IS THE SECOND IN COMMAND IN THE ILLINOIS STATES ATTOURNY OFFICE!...

Well they claim they have credited me back, but they said no go on the shipping and handling. That means they staight forward lied to me, I'm going to explain more, but I have to go right now, but I will post later. I work for the State Govenment where I live, and we have some attorneys in my offices, so I'll check w/ them tomorrow. I'll post tonight or tommorow though. They have taken me for 24 bucks if they really credited the other amount, but it has been a week, and the CC company says no credit has been issued yet.

It's good to see someone go the distance !!!
To many people let things slide, and then the next person comes down the street, and gets taken advantage of.
I don't if a verbal agreement with the shipping is going to hold up, but they sure in the hell will think about doing it again !
