ATTN all you guys who mount your N20 bottle in the spare tire well
Do you guys have any pics of the install? What was the orientation of the bottle? I'm thinking of bolting the brackets to piece that held the jack in place. Any suggestions?

I am going through the install right now. I used a piece of 1/8 thick aluminum plate. I made some brackets out of the same aluminum to hold it. I then mounted the bottle brackets to the plate and then put the plate in. I can put the bottle in the spare tire well and put the plastic cover on and it is invisible. Oh, you will have to put some type of black tape or what ever color your interior is on the inside of the plastic panel because at certain angles you can see through the vent holes. The color of the bottle is visible. Tomorrow I'll try to email you some pics of the plate.

I would like to see some pics too if you could send them to gower4203@hotmail.com. I want to move my bottle to the spare tire well if I can. It doesn't sound like it would be that hard, just take some patience.

I'm interested in pics too.. maybe the dimensions of the plate you made if you can't make it out by the pic. I bought my car with the jack in the back seat, so I'm not sure how it goes in.

Hum, pretty cool, I like the stickercharging ;-)
Actually, it’s almost identical to what I did to mount my NX bottle in my ’97 except that it had to have more little pieces cut out of it to get around the Monsoon amp, power antenna, rear speaker and to still have room for a 15# bottle. I also used a piece of 3/8” OSB instead of aluminum.
When I pulled it out of the ’97 and went to the ’87 I got rid of it. Mostly because there is much more room then in the 4th gen, and also because that setup drove me nuts. The problem was if you dropped one of the bottle hold down wing nuts or the N2O line under the bottle mount board I had to take the whole thing apart. The second problem with it is that with the 15# bottle you’ve got to mount the top bracket close enough to the top of the well that it makes it very hard to mount/unmount the bottle. I finally modified the bolts that attached the board to the support straps to be quick release.
That and I decided that I could make it stronger and lighter. What I ended up doing is getting rid of the bottom bottle bracket and making a saddle that was cut to the contours or the bottom/back of the spare tire well, and then I took the front bracket, cut it apart, rewelded it so it opened at a different angle and matched the contour of the spare tire brace. It doesn’t look as fancy, but it’s stronger and much lighter, as well as it gives me access to the bottom of the compartment if I drop something.

putting speed parts stickers on something to make it go faster ;-)
In your case since it's something that's not really exposed to the rest of the world it's just a cool use of the pile of stickers that we all own (I've got a bag with a couple of hundred of them in the garage that I haven't found a use for).

Actually what I was doing is trying to cover up some holes that were in the scrap piece of aluminum that I used. I don't have a sticker one on the car anywhere.
