Anyone running any of these??
Hey all, wondering if anyone but me is running an Xplod setup or not. Starting up front I have a CDX-CA650X head unit, going back to a XM-1502SX amp pushin 380 RMSx1 bridged mono (it'll do 190X2 RMS @2 ohms also). The sub is 1 12" XS-L1246 (the silver one) with a back up 12" XS-L1235 (the red one) in case I blow the silver one or it gets stolen. The silver sub is rated for 400 RMS, 1200 Peak, and the red one is 200 RMS, 800 Peak. Anyone else runnin this kind of setup and if so how do you like it? What did you pay for it also? I got mine for a steal (the amp anywayz). I got the CD Player for the normal $190, the subs were $160 for 2 red ones, then one red one blew and they replaced it with the silver one, and that is all I am running right now. I am going to build that "ultimate sub box" that everyone else is building, the one that fits in the well of the trunk. The amp I got for $160 also

off of the normal $240!!! HELL YA! I'll tell ya the story if ya really want to know cuz its kinda long. If your not running any Sony, what do you think of my setup?? Starting with the stereo pics (dam shifter/parking break
):

for sony stuff, i had one of the older Mobile ES amps, great amp, got a good deal on it, got stolen from me. Have a pair of Xplod ES (first line, still in good shape, anyone wanna buy em???) 3-way 6x9s, very nice sounding, solidly built, swapped em out when i redid my new system. have one of the first Xplod line cd reciever (came in the car when i bought it). does the job, have had very very minimal problems with it, will be replacing it soon. older sony car audio was pretty decent, the old mobile es stuff was top notch. newer stuff has gone down hill, more for looks now than anything. it does the job, but not much more.

I have a brand new 1235 sub that I won at Sony training last year. It works out nicely as a template sub for test fitting the holes in the boxes I build.

I don't like Sony stuff and won't buy another one of their decks and as far as speakers... I wouldent touch them with a nine foot pole.

In coming weeks I may build an enclosure for it and use it as a home theater sub until I destroy it.

What do you have for amps? and instead of destroying a good sub, why not sell it to some kid for 80 bucks or so? Make some money. I'm not gonna lie, the 1235 is a weak sub at 200 RMS and 800 Peak. But that new 1246 that I got is at 400 RMS, 1200 peak, and that compares pretty close to the subs sold in crutchfield. And I ran over 100 watts RMS more than it says possible into that 1235, and it didnt blow for almost 4 months, ran everyday for at least 40 miles, 20 miles per trip. I hadn't heard any bad comments on Sony until I came to this board, and I haven't heard any thing good bout them on here. does ANYONE but me think that Sony is a quality brand?

have you tryed Sony car audio before? For those of us who can't afford the good stuff like alpine and all of that, Sony is DAMN good for the money you pay for it.

There's plenty of better stuff for the same money.
If you can sacrifice the shiny disco ball display and 2,000,000 band eq in the head unit, you can get a higher quality Alpine for the same price. It just won't have all the useless bells and whistles. Even if you do want bells and whistles, you can get them from pioneer and Kenwood for around the same price as sony.
Their amps are weak. Whatever price you pay, you can get more output (although with a lower advertised rating) from other brands like Alpine, Rockford, Kicker, Orion, etc.
Their subs are weak. Aside from power handling, they just plain don't sound good. There are better choices for the same money.
And then there's their coax speakers. These are bar-none the worst sounding coax speakers I've ever heard. I'd honestly rather have the stock crap. The only thing I used the sony coaxes in our sound board for was to switch between them and anything else to show the difference. Those sonys helped me sell so many Boston coaxes you wouldn't believe it.
I don't want to keep ragging on Sony, but the sad truth is, their stuff has turned into crap in the last few years. Any of their pre-xplod stuff is stuff that I liked and had a lot of respect for, but Sony changed their entire line to fit the "low budget, shiny objects sell well" philosophy.

i agree sony used to build a quality product. like most they built up their name got a good rep. then started building crap.
i use only rockford fosgate products they did the same thing luckly i have a generation of equipment that was built very well the new stuff unless you buy the top line is junk.

as a current and past owner of sony stuff, the xplod line sucks, no matter what your budget. jim put it as bluntly as possible, i'm just here to follow up. i have owned an xplod amp, currently own an xplod deck (came with the car), and owned a set of xplod es 6x9s (which i still have if anyone's interested in buying them for pretty cheap). my deck cannot handle cold weather. if the car has not warmed up, half of the buttons do not work or think they are a different button. in the last 2 months it has refused to play a cd about 5-6 times. the pre xplod stuff was great. i had a mobile es amp that ran my subs before they all got stolen. there are much better brands for the same price. i'd have to say my new budget brand of choice is Crystal. the company cut prices across the board, probably around hlaf price for all of their speakers. i got a set of 3-way comps for $160. some big name coax cost that much. my 6 1/2 coax were only $60 and have a small outboard crossover. this stuff is top-notch, very inexpensive, and can go up against some of the big name stuff costing 2 to 3 times more. so i do say xplod sucks, but after experiencing, not by just reading it.

DISTURB I'm running a Sony Mobile CDX-CA860X it's been a really good unit I've had no problems with it whatsoever. I'm using two Sony XM-6001GXD amp to push three of the new Sony XS-L1265G Subs. It pushed 149 db's at a competition. I don't know if thats what your looking for but thats my setup.
i was able to manufacture a new mount for my rockford deck the peices under the deck are amp status display's. i mounted my rockford symetry system where the deck was. this did two things for me, i don't know about anyone else but with my cd player mounted on an angle all my anti skip features didn't work so when the base hits the cd skips it drove me crazy, the second was a place to mount my symetry.

I've been tossing around the idea of putting the head unit in the dash vents so that I can fit the TV into the dash.
