Removing center section between fog light holes

I know this has been done by a few guys on here. I just want to see if they can chim in with some of the details about how they made it look "clean". I am mounting a big intercooler there for my F1 and think it should get all the cold air it can get.

Still ripping the car appart for a new.... bunch of stuff... and don't think I want to put it back togeather without removing this chunk of air blocking plastic.

Thanks for any advice.

Who else has done this? Does it make the front end flimsy?

Re: Removing center section between fog light holes

I have seen one guy on here do it, but I can't remember his name. He said it was easy. He mounted his intercooler there. That's where mine is and I want to copy him. I don't like the idea of the cooler not being exposed to oncoming air.

Re: Removing center section between fog light holes

Take a look at this car's front end. I had thought about this for my car, but I do not want it to be seen.

Re: Removing center section between fog light holes

I also ask wondering because I want to mount a fmic. And that is a good lookin sts car. Looks like they removed most of the material of an iroc grill insert and left little remaining to increase the support to the bottom side.

Re: Removing center section between fog light holes

here is one i did on my bird. ill post the link in a minute.

https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/body...-grafting.html

this is obviously way more intailed than what you are doing, but i did remove the center part and it was no big deal. Here is the whole process of what i did and you can get kind of an idea. I also have a thread of how i epoxied these parts together if you interested let me know, i will attach it too. the thread is titled "plastic body repair" if you want to search.

Re: Removing center section between fog light holes

The sts camaro is showing exactly what I was talking about. My question is how was the center section made to look so smooth? Cutting and bondo?

Exactly. Now that we all know what I am talking about, how is it done? I can cut all the stuff out, but how to make it look "finished"?

This is how I did mine. I put this together for a way to work with the materials our bumpers are made of.
