Definitely savable, although it looks like the latch didn't give up and sucked the quarter in. But if it were a little closer I'd be interested in fixing it, I have half a 86' Firebird that'd be perfect to use

I could use the rear bumper cover and wheels (if in good shape) if anyone buys this for parts.

Re: 1989 Formula. Saveable????
Damn. I read this comment and remembered I had a rear bumper cover that style at one point. For the life of me I cant remember what ever happened to it. I'm sure I probably sold it at some point, but like the missing headlight assembly from the same parts car, I cant help but think it's probably in the back corner of an attic.
I guess this is what the driver of that Formula deserves for running snow tires.

Rip in the roof is large...anything can be repaired but this car was hammered. This car is a cam challenged 5.0 and an auto....no redeeming value.

Value aspect aside, and that its a 305, it's a tough call. If you knew a damn good body person to restore the frame on the roof and get another door and and fix the crushed body panels it can be save able. But that's a ton of money it will take to save it. Knowing the corner dash on the passenger was probably damaged up too that could that can also cost more money out of your pocket if it was crushed in the passenger side dash panel in that's another dash assembly and pad.

Re: 1989 Formula. Saveable????
Indeed, there a lot more than meets the eye on a damaged car. I've parted out a '76 Formula that got a pretty bad crash, I found some cracks everywhere, even though the only real damage to the body was on the driver side firewall/water drain and a subframe mount. The passenger door was hit hard and the inner brace was badly bent, but still opened and closed fine. The driver door looked really good, but upon closer inspection, it was bent as well !
Unless you have a personal story with a car, or got it for free, I wouldn't bother with a crashed car.

Can't help but think that the Blizzaks on there had something to do with it. Car was out running around when it shouldn't be unless the owner considered it a throwaway.

WHO knows for sure. Not any one of us looking at pictures. Think about it for a little bit. Edward.

Re: 1989 Formula. Saveable????
Wow, looks like what my former brother in law did to my 92 Camaro. He backed into my door with his 1 ton dually. Got the pillar back to within 1/8 inch of normal replaced door and ready to paint when car got hit again.
I fixed it because I loved the car, this would be a lot of work. Could be done, but others are out there that can be fixed for less.

Re: 1989 Formula. Saveable????
Yes, I agree with money and time it probably could be saved, but that looks like a hell of a pounding it took. Who knows what all got damaged. Tweaked frame or cracks in the body. The bottom of the door jamb is %$@#*! all to hell. A lot of money for sure to fix everything. Just a really super nice parts car now in my opinion. Too easy to find another that you could just fix up with this one... What a shame.

Re: 1989 Formula. Saveable????
It is the type of thing you get when going into a used car dealership or looking to buy something at a Pawn Shop. You know, they give you, "YOU can fix that easily enough..." statement. I started to reply "Ok, since it would be easy to fix, then you fix it and I will buy it."

"YOU can fix that easily enough..."
"A couple of taps will straighten the metal out in no time"
