Period correct NOS vs Real Factory

For example the big exhaust clamp at the muffler on the big single systems from the late 1980's.

Clamp NOS part assy number #3634389 which includes clamp 11257765 and 257766 hardware set including washer and nut 2436164 and 11501033.

The Factory also used Clamp assembly 1257765 and 1257766 so that is good.

Here's the difference... The assembly used at the factory used a nut with a capive washer which needs to be sourced seperatly to be correct.

Here is another comparison... The big clamp at the converter originally was part # 14089474. This clamp was superceeded by # 15529483, both clamps are identical on a visual from the faces.

The difference is on the sides. Factory clamp has a welded seam. Superceeded clamp is tacked at the top and the bottom.

The exhaust clamp #1257766 is listed as 2-1/4": https://www.corvettecentral.com/c3-6...e-clamp-322151

Garage Toys, Can’t be 2 1/4. My 84 HO Z-28 original muffler is 2.50 inlet and 2.25 tail pipes. I also thought some factory original exhausts were 2.75.
