what weight?

I don't like the converter, but it looks like you have all the parts. T&T and seat time, and you should be there without the spray. I've been faster with less... but not the first time out.

I see your from alliance, if your going to quaker or Thompson, I could help you out...

I just ran 12.80@108 with same cam and gears (using a Superram intake) Trickflow 175cc heads at Thompson this weekend. You should be able to get into the 12's without NOS.

I think I know what car you had there. Nice piece!!

I got the red firebird in 11.50.

Thanks, Going to put some 1.6 rockers on and have it tuned at Hutter's in a couple weeks. Think I can get to mid to low 12's with a few tweaks. Gonna try to get back out to Thompson on the 6th for Wed night grudge races. I did see your car from afar but didn't get to see you ran. What do you have done to it?

355, ported double bumps, solid roller, 11:1 e85, rossler 400, s60, all heim link suspension, 10.5 slicks. 100 shot on the timer for .5 seconds at the hit. It went 11.39 this weekend, 11.75 on motor last weekend. First pass this weekend I had it on .8 seconds, and it stood on the back bumper and went 1.40 60' with the back tires. I spent the day looking for a boat anchor to slow to 11.50

It's not a street car (yet), and sure not as street-able as yours or the op's cars.

needs more cam, converter, gear, and compression to take advtange of a 210cc intake runner on that small of cubic inches. you might be faster if you put something like an AFR 195 on the existing combo actually.

I been pondering the idea of getting different heads, I listened to a guy where I work and he lead me down the wrong road with these heads

Back when I had a similar cam and factory stock suspension, my car went from 13.20's to 12.80's when I went from a 2800 to a B&M 3600 nitrous holeshot. After I went to a roller cam & some other changes it jumped from 12.40's to 12.00's when I went from the B&M to a 4200 freakshow.

I have an FTI in it right now, and went 11.75 off the trailer. Don't even know the stall, just told them the combo and they went to town.

I still have the b&m and Freakshow on the shelf, if you want to try one or both. I'm panning on going to QCR on 5/16 for their 11.50 race.

What do you have for shocks and a torque arm? LCA relocation brackets? what distributor? I take it you haven't run this, yet?

I have the adjustable race shocks for the rear, stock torque arm, tubular control arms and panhard bar, no relocation brackets, and I have a hei distributor with msd parts and 6al. I have not ran this yet as its a new motor

I just took an SLP torque arm off my car, I'm looking to sell. With these cars, the pinion angle and preload make a world of difference, and you cant change it with your stock arm. The HEI and 6Al is good. I'm assuming your going to foot brake this, I'd bump the initial timing up a bit, but leave the total timing. With an HEI, it's not too tough.

But, since you've not taken it down, yet, then your best bet is to just go out and try it! This looks like the perfect Saturday for a QCR season opener!

yes it does! how much initial should I run without making it hard to start? I tried adjusting carb for max manifold vac and I can only get 13. should I get a vac can due to shitty brakes with low vac? how much for the torque arm? yes going to footbrake til around 2200-2500. I wanna do line lock but since I just want a 12 sec street car I haven't bothered

I'll pm about the torque arm.

I run my timing locked at 36. I've run up to 40 without too bad of starting. The car has a high torque power master starter, though.

As to how much, it's something your going to have to play with. The good news is that it's cheap and easy to mess with. Back when I still had mechanical advance in my hei, the more I advanced the initial, the better the car would leave the starting line. It eventually progressed until I locked it out, and it liked that the best.

But since yours is a street car, your going to have to split the difference between et & street ability.

Looking at this picture, the "center cam" is how you change the initial. Back in the day, I made a couple out of some scrap steel on the bench grinder, with holes in different locations, the one it liked the most was like 20 initial and 36 total. But I was running 110 & 11:1 compression... So your going to have to find what it likes. Also, it liked the lighter advance springs, to get it into final timing faster, but you have to watch. Too light of spring, and the timing may flutter at higher rpms.

When your foot braking, it adds some tuning challenges because your not WOT all the time, you need to rely on the accelerator pump circuit, and timing curves. But, it's just something to work at.

Also, this is going to seem like a silly question, but do you have AC on the car? Do you have one of those AC solenoids that bump up the idle when it is on? I wired one of those into mine, so the throttle position was the same every time I staged the car. It's an old trick, but very effective.

no im down to the bare minimum on the engine bay items, ac was removed way back when. how do I exactly "lockout" timing? I have a mini high torque starter so that should help out a bit. im low on the compression ratio, so id like to get better heads and bump it up somemore

To lockout timing on an hei isn't tough. You first lockout the vacume advance with this: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/pro-67022c

then I removed all the weights and springs, and made a small bar with four holes drilled in it, to lock the center shaft of the distributor with the plate that holds the rotor in place. I installed it in place of the center plate. Or you could weld it, but then there's no going back. I still have my old distributor, I could scavenge the parts from it and let you try it, if you want, or you could use the whole distributor, but it's pretty thrashed.

But, you are giving up some street manners doing this.
