86 Iroc won't start after running out of gas
Alright, so I have a 1986 Iroc z28 and when I was driving I ran out of gas. When I put gas in it, it wouldn't start, so I figured I burnt the fuel pump. I just put an Edelbrock 17933 - Fuel Pump: 255LPH in and I'm getting 45 psi to the fuel rail. When I turn the car over it sounds like it's about to start and like every 2 cranks it makes this back firing sound. I checked that I'm getting spark too and I am. I am lost of ideas of what it might be. So, I was just wondering if someone knows what the problem might be.

Yah I was thinking that too. But to be honest I have no idea how to adjust the timing aha. All I did was take the cap off and made sure my distributor rotor still spun when I cranked the engine.

Was that before or after you had the starting problem??

Check to see if you can turn the distributor by hand. If it moves without loosening the bolt then you found it. If it doesn't move, check to make sure your injectors are being told to spray by the computer. A test light or nord light is needed. If those check out, there is the possibility the timing chain jumped as it sounds like timing is off. It's not very likely to be the chain.
But it could be something completely different, won't know without more troubleshooting and information.
