L98 5 speed before and after bolt ons
car is an 87 formula with a crate L98. Stock except for an ORX
Second vid is after a CAI, 1.7'RR's, and 2210 hooker super comps. (Open headers at this point. I also pinched off the fuel return line to temporarily raise the fuel pressure. TPI system is stock otherwise.
According to my GPS (live 5 hours from a track) it's gained around 9 mph from those mods.
Stock was a best of 91.8 mph
CAI alone got it up to 95.3 mph. The car felt noticeably faster from that alone.
After was the RR's, which got me up to 97.1 in worse conditions. Car revved higher.
Last was the 2210 hookers. Which were a fun install. I also pinched off the fuel return line to bump the fuel pressure. Car felt way faster again, and revved even higher. First pass was 100 mph on the nose.
Next up is an HSR. We will see what that brings! Thought I would share my experience so far testing individual mods.

The port alignment was horrid for one thing. And I had to do a pile of grinding just to get it to seat on the heads. Also the injector spacing is off and you can just barely pound the rails in place. Metal quality is good. But the casting is way off.

Re: L98 5 speed before and after bolt ons
Update:
Finally got it running right with a debacle over some bad injectors. It ran 102 mph with ease in much warmer weather. AFR was in around that 12.5 range
Car runs great, even on the stock prom. It may have lost some low end TQ but it still has plenty and more than makes up for it on the high end. I shift it around 5800 now on the stock cam.
